    High idle

Sounds like you need six carb rebuild kits and a set of throttle body gaskets. Throttle bodies need to be removed and cleaned as well Also do a through inspection of the carb bodies and bowls. Had idle issues with mine that turned out to be a hair line crack in the carb bodies. Not visually...

    Tackle boxes

Nope...like wives and girl freinds, more than one is problematic....lol. Got tired of playing musical boxes then not having what I needed when push came to shove. Started by cleaning house of the redundant stuff. Then moved on to stuff that I never used. Was able to organize the rest to...

    Home Renovations - Weather Permitting

Home renovations are a sore point at the moment. Last house we installed a new roof, painted and remodeled the kitchen 6 months before we put the house up for sale. This house will probably be no different. Thirty new windows last year. Still need to do five exterior entry doors and a four...

    Run Carb Dry or Not.-

All the "big equipment (tractors) are diesel. The rest of the equipment are small to medium sized 2 and 4 strokes (golf cart, 4 wheeler, big and small carburated outboards, generators, chain saws, garden tractor, trimmer, etc.) Some of the equipment, i.e. garden tractor and generator, sit...

    Run Carb Dry or Not.-

Mid-Atlantic coast Keep 150 gallons of both diesel and E10 on property (275 gallon tanks) year round for use around the farm. Both tanks get treated when filled. Roughly once every 10 months. No problems with either in the 20+ years with the exception of the time I forgot to add Cetane to the...

    Run Carb Dry or Not.-

Have not drained a carb in a single piece of equipment I own in over 20 years. Add stabiler to the fuel prior to last use of the year and put it away.

    What's too old to consider?

Newer is correct. Don’t believe everything you read. Lots of envious haters out there... Im a 30 year, 3 boat Grady owner. I know where the “bodies” are hidden...lol While transom where a problem in the 80’s early 90’s, they went to Greenwood (lifetime warranty) in the late 90’s. Have never...

    Scotch Guard on Sunbrella

Great stuff for boots but does not contain a UV inhibitor Used the stuff on my previous boat with a canvas enclosure. Worked well on canvas but not sure I would use a kerosene based product on Sunbrella

    What's too old to consider?

Not sure what year they started building the Freedom and Tournament, but anything older than 1992. The year Grady went to the SeaV2 hull

    Down rigger cable

Thinking about switching the wire on my Cannon downriggers to Kevlar or braided line to silence the whine. Currently running cork balls on the lines which helps, but they don’t eliminate the noise. Are their any downsides to braid? Running #12 weights at 2-3 kts. Rarely if ever fish and...

    Scotch Guard on Sunbrella

The label (marine, automotive, patio, etc.) varies depending on which market you find it in. The protectant formula is the same featuring the product benefits and mode of application. So whichever item (label) you get will be a great choice...

    Looking for a bigger boat....

The first thing you need to do is read up on the little asterisks next to your (max) tow rating. Typically included “optional” features to met the max tow rating. You will also find that anything over #5k requires a special load carrying hitch. “Safe” is a relative term when it comes to towing.

    Rocker Switch Panel

Same thing happened to me several years ago. Got lucky and found it straight off. Turned out to be the bilge pump shorted to ground. Was back feeding current to the helm via a short in the float switch. Actuating a switch simply opens up a secondary path to ground thru that switch

Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

Never had much luck with "strippers" on the Bay either...;) Plenty of Stripers if you know where and when to look. Caught several nice ones (30"+) yesterday jigging with light tackle. Lots of bait and fish between Solomon's and the VA. line right now.

    Mako 28.4 fuel tank

Seacraft has not existed since the 90’s. Mako bought them, shuttered the Fla. operation and moved to NC. Mako was then bought by Tracker who marketed a “Seacraft” hull a number of years back.
