2001 wellcraft 24 WA 5 inch rise in outboard and storage captain seat

I have an "open" transom on my boat. In all the years I've owned it, I've not had a single situation where five more inches of transom height would have made a difference one way or the other. I've had a splash well full of water a number of times........nothing concerning. IMHO, do it right...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

And a terminated cable isn’t? Wouldnt matter here anyhow...signal return wires. If interference shows up on the supply side you have an issue the pulse generator, not the cable. Lots of problems with “junk electronics” in the past blamed on erroneous routing of transducer cables.

New bearings: too much movement on spindle

If the pads have come unattached from the backing plate they are trash. With all the rust in the piston area, have you checked to make sure the pistons are not seized?

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

In the electronics manufacturing business. Working with 22 and 24 awg shielded wiring is very time consuming and meticulous work. Wouldn’t try to solder. Would go with screw terminations in a sealed enclosure like this...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

Nope...your not "sharing" the transducer between units. Your sharing the Display (data) via NMEA 2000 I stayed away from the splice box because of the work involved. Couldn't find an "off the shelf" switch box to accommodate a 12 pin side scan transducer connector. You would need to design and...

    Garmin 93SV Installation questions

I looked into sharing a SV transducer with a second unit when I installed a 94SV 3 years ago. The cleanest is to install a second display and “share” the transducer via NMEA 2000. You could buy a splice box, an extension cable and a second cradle mount. The splice box would allow you to...

1997 Maxum Bowrider I/O V8 want to replace carpet with fishing friendly alternative

I was in the same “boat” so to say with my first boat. Don’t know what was worst, the mold, the stains or that piece of squid that somehow managed to get stuck in the bilge for a week In the end, it turned out to be a good excuse as any....sold the boat and bought one with non-skid and a self...

    GPH Question

That is a very old unit. Does not support NEMA 2000 communications. Looks like your stuck with an alternative solution unless you update the plotter Wind, current and waves all play a huge roll in fuel consumption. The more resistance to the boat making headway, the more horsepower required to...

    Transducer interference

You and a lot of other people since Simrad purchased them. The good stuff is marketed under the Simrad brand. The big box (price point) stuff gets the Lowrance name.

    Random

Bought a pair years back to repair the hoses on welding torches. Worked OK, but not the greatest. The ratchet type crimpers work much better I use push-loc fittings on everything around the house. More than adequate for low pressure air and water applications. Reusable and don't require clamps...

    Transducer interference

Probably a combination of a number of things: Have all the software updates been done? What transducer (model) are you running? Is the unit in auto or manual mode? Does the depth reading “blink or flash” at anytime? Dropping out at speed is an installation issue. Rivets are notorious...

    Sluggish starting

How did you determine that? Just because it cranks doesn’t mean it good. Starter has min. rpm to spec I thought my starter was fine until I replaced with new. The cranking rpm of the new starter was noticeably faster. Made a heck of a difference in the way the motor starts

New bearings: too much movement on spindle

The outer pads “snaps” in place and kept from dropping out by the hub. Some have retaining clips, many do not. In normal operation the outer pad and disc are in light contact with each other. Install the pad then pump the actuator a couple of times to close the gap between pad and disc to hold...

For those fishing enthusiasts - what's your style of boat?

I too used to pity the poor guys fishing CC in the early Spring, late fall tournaments. Nowadays most running CC under these condition have hard or soft tops with enclosures. Fished with a friend last year that has “wings” on his enclosure that snapped to the gunnels, providing protection...

    GPH Question

All the units I mentioned are in-line units. Cut the fuel line somewhere between the fuel tank and fuel pump ti install. Not sure what this buys you in this scenario. Back in the days we stopped at the fuel dock on the last trip of the day to top off the fuel tanks for the next morning. Wrote...

    GPH Question

Very expensive for what it is. Most of the major electronics manufactures (Garmin, Simrad, Lowrance, Raymarine, etc.) make fuel flow monitoring systems that plug into their chart plotter/ combo units for ~$150. I noticed that the system has a range and distance til empty function. Note that...
