1973 Evinrude 25hp lower unit failed pressure test.

So, if you actually witnessed bubbles when pressurized, I would suppose it is cracked or has a bubble in the casting. Both would be rare in my book. Um, maybe it is a freeze crack? That would be rare here in Florida, I guess.

    CD-20R

The seal under the powerhead is vitally important. It keeps water out of the crankcase. Needless to say, water ingestion into the crankcase will over time destroy the internal parts. No telling how yours looks inside after obviously running for a long time without the carbon seal. Yes, the...

1972 Evinrude 65hp Triumph slipping sound, not engaging into reverse

inside cowling. If you find it to be low, you can check at the switch to verify the problem is not between it and the motor end. BTW, I have no problem with tearing down the lower unit, but it would be a shame to do that if the problem is elsewhere. With all this in mind, the grinding you are...

Johnson 3 cyl 70 hp, 1986. No vacuum at one carburator

Yes, the piston skirt blocks the exhaust off from the crankcase. Compression can still be good if the rings are ok.

89' rude 20 or 72 rude 25 which is better?

Having owned both, my pick would be the '89 20hp, hands down. Don't be afraid of the CD ignition.

    65ESL 72S Manual

We might add that your 1972 was a bit of an one-year oddity in that it had MagCD ignition AND Hydro-Electric Shift, and took a special electric cable. Better stick with the model-specific OEM manual (Ken Cook).

    65ESL 72S Manual

Can't answer about the PDF you saw, except to say yes there were 65hp V4 motors made during that time period, as well as your 3-cyl model. Totally different, of course.

    Help with 1973 18hp Evinrude model 18304 A

Interesting question. I don't think it does because there are two sets of magnets 180 degrees apart. But I could be mistaken. Issue has never come up in my experience anyhow. BTW, do you know that the early OMV v-4 magnetos produced two negative sparks and two positive sparks per revolution...

77 evenrude only wants to run while key ingaged

Well, I repeat, maybe it isn't truly running on all cylinders, not producing enough power to keep going on its' own without the starter's help. But we still don't know what motor we are talking about. How many cylinders does it have? How many carburetors? Etc., etc. Could have a fouled...

77 evenrude only wants to run while key ingaged

And what 1977 Evinrude are we talking about here? My best off-the-wall guess is it isn't "running" on all cylinders but with the starter's help, it appears to be.

    Identify this old motor

Yeah, the basic motor started out in 1954-55 as a 12D11 with integral gas tank. In 1956, it got a remote tank and rubber mounts and enclosed powerhead as a 12D13 and the 12D11 also continued as a 12S12 (S for Standard). Standard and Deluxe continued to be sold side by side for a few years...

    Identify this old motor

Actually, I think it is a Frankenmotor. I see lots of old Buccaneer brown paint. The ugly green repaint suggests a Spiegel Brooklure, and the white powerhead = ??? Anyhoo, I am going to mark it as a Montgomery Ward Sea King. 1957 version below.

    Identify this old motor

It is a Gale Model 12D11, built 1954-55, 12hp, Sold under various brand names such as Buccaneer, Sea King, Sea Bee, etc. Only difference is the color, decals, and trim piece. Your trim piece should help narrow it down, if I could just remember which would apply.

1969 Evinrude 33 HP water pump pee hole

I have no idea. Perhaps somebody drilled it to create a pee hole. Pretty clever, I suppose. the water tube is inside the bulge below it. Anyhoo, it didn't come that way.

1969 Evinrude 33 HP water pump pee hole

Not what you are thinking. That is a grease (Zerk) fitting for lubricating the shifter shaft.

77 85hp johnson water flow issue

Get that thing on a boat, on the lake before you panic. It may not be "broke". I learned a long time ago that those things don't make sense sometimes. That was when I used an outboard gasket on a 90hp OMC two-stroke IO. A huge learning experience, I must say.

As for the squirting holes, all are normal drain holes.

Somebody might have added a pee hole. Seems like they just can't stand not watching something pee.
