    1975 25 hp Evinrude 25502B

About those two other motors "from the same era"---are they the same year and horsepower? Just for laughs, pull the drain hose off the upper bypass port cover and let it spew overboard. Idle better now? Gotta tell you this; that motor is idleing about as good as a lot of them did when brand...

    58 evinrude 7.5 cooling problem

Look up inside the water tube. Does it have a restrictor up in there? Those restrictors, (when equipped) get partially plugged with trash. Here in Florida, I used to enlarge the hole with a drill. I can't say what to think about that "Up North" and cold water.

Method to repair damaged crank/ flywheel key?

Usual procedure is patch it up enough to get it running, then sell it. P.T. Barnum was right.

    ‘67 evinrude vs 19?? Johnson

The generator itself goes way back to the late 1950's without change. However the brackets had modifications up through the years. And don't forget, you will need a voltage regulator and a place to mount it, and wiring.

Need help with 1968 1.5 HP Johnson model SC-10S

Check the magneto ground wire. It may be broken inside, making it lose electrical continuity when flexed. The mag needs to be grounded by wire because it is mounted on a non-conductive plastic bushing. Yes. I have seen it before on those particular motors.

Starter goes on on running engine, 1979 85HP Johnson

Perhaps you are thinking of safety switches that prevent starting the motor with the controls set in gear. That's a different subject.

Starter goes on on running engine, 1979 85HP Johnson

Wrong. Nothing blocks the starter except the driver. Don't turn it to "START" and it won't happen.

    Johnson TN-26 Fuel Mixture

I suggest you re-visit that in-tank filter. Does it have the original sintered balls filter? Those things are famous for getting plugged up and restricting flow to the carb, so the carb doesn't get enough fuel to replace what was burned--then it runs out of gas and dies. You say it has good...

TN26 5hp Johnson upper crankshaft seal replacement

The slinger system was used on thousands upon thousands of motors up through at least 12 hp. Any oil that does leak up past the bearing is thrown off by the slinger and then sucked back down through special channels to the intake manifold for recirculation and burning. The simple system has...

    RKL-24 no power

There is an o-ring (#63) on top of the pump housing, and two more on the long shaft extension spacer (68). If any of those o-rings and/or the spacer are missing, it will have a dramatic effect on the running of the motor with the hood on or off, due to smoke inhalation.

    1975 evinrude 115hp starter solonoid

Symptoms strongly suggest a bad battery cable connection. Don't just look at them and wiggle them, remove them and clean them shiny clean and reassemble tightly.
