    Hydroplane fin

A hydroplane fin is designed to keep the flat bottom hull from sliding away from the corners . Gives the hull a little bite so you can turn in any direction . What sort of hydroplane do you have ?

    Replacing Cleats

If they are screwed in or the nuts are completely inaccessible I would drill the head of the fastener off , remove cleat and use a punch and knock the remaining part through the gunwale and cover the holes or top of screw fastner that can't be punched through . Like a boarding step or a cleat...

    Replacing Cleats

Sounds like they are screwed in if your looking directly under them and don't see any nuts . Have you tried un- screwing them yet or just figured there were bolts under the gunwale?

    88' Luhrs Alura

RV and marine plumbing , fixtures are pretty much the same thing , so start in the RV section when looking , save some money that way .

    88' Luhrs Alura

I wouldn't replace the fresh water lines . I would start with the fresh water pump . Should have a clear top on it with a screen inside that . Pull the top , make sure screen isn't clogged up . Or just remove it . Then prime it by putting water into it where the screen is . If you have water in...

    Advice for first-time inboard owner?

They are geared for pulling multiple skiers without the MPHs dropping when the skiers are carving deep corners . So the top end isn't crazy fast . Pulling a skier through the " cones " with a standard low hp I/O will have you adjusting the throttle constantly , not doing that with a competition...

How to best start a boat with a push button

Replace the ECM and wire it back to stock . My uneducated guess is the choke is not working the way it is now wired up .

SEI Marine products...Anyone buy from them?? Quality??

I have a hard time believing there is more than 1 or maybe 2 manufacturing facilities that make these parts and then just package them under whatever name the distributor wants on them . I see it all the time with tool sales . Matco- Mac - Snap On - Cornwall all do it with either there primary...

    1985 Carver Convertible

350 hp as in 454s or are they small block 350 cubic inch . engines . Trannies and engine if 454s might be worth 3 - 4 grand . All other parts are a crapshoot as your trying to find someone looking for parts for a 48 year old boat . I would just walk away from it unless your a gluten for a major...

    Engine hour gauge

Go with the analog style , not the digital only . If the digital fails you lose all info , not with the other style as it's mechanical and the hours are always showing , on or off .

    is Nada boat valuation acurate?

If you like the boat , make them a cash offer of 3,000 less than asking price . Be prepared to walk , if your in a northern state the odds are they will call you back after they rejected your offer and accept it . No explanation is needed to be given to dealer , like , this is what NADA has it...

Looking to find Glastron model and max hp motor

They dropped 100s on the 14' models , don't remember the model . Did not have the weight that this one will with the hard top . My 15' / 400 lb Power Cat has a 150hp Tower on it . Better to go bigger than put a 50-60 on it and then put 3 people in it and it can't get out of it's own way . To...

Looking to find Glastron model and max hp motor

Might have to join Glastron Owners club or something like that on Facebook and see what they come up with . No information on Fiberglassics / library section . Built after 73:hull ID # would be etched on upper right hand corner of transom.

    Fiberglass pro pike

What info are you exactly looking for ? It's a 16' - 39 year old boat that probably has soft / rotting spots all over it . Controls are motor mfg specifics , all hardware is made by a after market supplier , not them .

    VIP valiant weight

Buy one that has a 3,000 lb capacity and you will be good to go . Shows 1920 empty , may or may not include your engine . Two stroke motors in that class are around 350 lbs . Gas is 8 lbs a gallon , add in batteries, oils , anchor safety gear and you may be a bit under that 3,000 lb mark ...

    '75 24'5" Slickcraft Cabin Crusier

Hope you got it for free , hate to be the bearer of bad news . Everything is wrong , out drive - engine - winterized ? - outside uncovered for , from the looks of it a decade . Trailer is your only asset in this . Sorry again . On the other hand you could put 10 - 15 G into it , motor- outdrive...
