Boat had been stored for 19 years

In my opinion, the stringers and transom that are rotted out will be you biggest challenge and cost ! Fiberglass work is nasty, expensive and a serious health issue. Watched to many battle health issues after working with fiberglass, not for me. The motor will be the easiest and probably the...

Better hole shot for a jon boat.

Big difference in weight ! Unfortunately many boat owners underestimate their boats weight. The 19 mph sounds pretty good with two adults and gear.

cowl air inlet on mercury 9.9.

OK....gotta ask, are you sure there are no wires being pinched ? No linkage being bound up when the cowl slips on ? This should not be so complicated ..

Remove that piece on the handle area on the inside and see if that helps.

    Boat budget question

Guess that is why I stick with older, nice boats and motors, easier to beat the high cost.

    Marine Sea Foam

A friend is a bass master tournament guy....yes it is crazy, he is backing off from competition because of all the shady tactics. He claims local matches are much more fun and enjoyable with better sportsmen !!

    Trouble launch and loading boat

If it were me.....I would consider replacing the bunks with longer ones, and add some extra supports for the new bunks. You need a low and wide roller at the very back if the trailer frame for your keel to hit first, a self centering one would be good. Add more keel rollers, and extend the...

    options for boat cover supports

Add extra grommets in the cover so tied owns or bungee cords can be added to help keep cover taught. Back in my younger days when canvass covers were popular, we used inner tubes from cars, trucks etc to lift our covers. Back in the day, if they got a hole, they were tossed. We would scour...

    1975 Johnson 70hp

Have pulled down engines after Sea Foam and it has always cleaned the combustion chanbers very well. Have used it to soak old small engine heads, they came out clean as a whistle. Their may be other products, but Sea Foam has always did just what it advertised for me.

cowl air inlet on mercury 9.9.

Is there a CDI control box ? When these go bad, often it is the high speed that goes haywire.

2016 Four Winns H190 snap in cover replacement

I would be extremely surprised to find a pre made cover that actually fit. Most over the counter covers are not trailer able or their life is shortened by doing so. Best bet for your money, is to bite the bullet and get a custom fitted cover, expensive yes, but longer life, no leaking, no...

Looking for a manual and any general information on this motor i recently aquired from a friend .

That might be a tough find, those were not very popular, so finding one might be a challenge. Post wanted ads, look at all the sales platforms, check the antique outboard assoc. Gotta be one out there somewhere !

Caffeine good for sleepy old guy ?

Same here, came from a family of coffee drinkers. Late in life started having gut issues, dropped to one cup in the morning only, gut is doing much better! Mother passed due to cancer issues, coffee was partly to blame for her issues. Some folks can handle it and others have issues, just...
