Why only one battery ?? Many opt for dual batteries in bigger boats, even my 16' alum has two batteries the engine has acess to. Have your battery tested, free most places...check alternator output, the make corrections on your findings.
Weight can be critical in a small boat !! The tan plug would indicate a lean condition, normally more of a chocolate/ dark gray is better. Time for a carb overhaul?
You folks must have some very abrasive water...here on Lake Erie, I use Krylon gloss black on my Merc prop and skag without issues. Last touched up last July, have run a couple dozen trips with an average of 15-30 miles each trip... Still looks like the day it was painted !! The Krylon is a...
Thanks for the update, will be doing a lot of testing before heading out in big water. And thanks for pointing out some places to look !! So far, no signs of anything, everything looks brand new, but will continue looking !
The mfgrs use whatever is availiable when the boat was made, they dont make their own...good luck, you may consider doing them all if you want them to match !! I also have a 92 Sylvan but so far my hatch covers are still in good shape..
Guess that is my point, just use a rattle can then when it wears off, easy to touch it up !! I usually get a couple years out of a rattle can paint job. Then again I boat in deeper water, no sand bars to run across, no rocks to run into....
If you are a gambler, then go for it !!! My time is valuable to me anyway, I hate doing things over, but for some, doing things over and over is not a problem...
I woukd still do some serious testing on the wood structure under that floor. Glass boats start at the very bottom when rot takes hold. No sense doing all that work then have to do it over !!!!
If the floor is not soft, why cut it out ??
I only use aluminum props and have used Krylon spray paint for years with no issues. Dries fast and easy to recoat when needed. Quick, simple, cheap and looks great !!
