Get the case Pressure tested. 2 ounces of Oil is a lot. You may have pressurized the case by pumping Air into it, by R&Ring the Driveshaft, which could push some oil past the Seals, but 2 ounces... Does it Stink to High Heaven like Gear does?
In the early 80s one of our Mirrocrafts had something dropped inside, and put a roundish 1 inch dent/tear in the hull bottom about 6 ft forward of the transom, it acted like a little scoop, and produced a nice spray inside the boat. I was about 21 at the time, I put the boat on the Trailer and...
What you are calling a Seep Hole, is Drain for Water.
Many people have cobbled together a Hand Pump, with a Pressure Gauge, to a Hose with a Fitting that will screw into the Vent or Drain Screw.
Regardless of mercury claiming about the newer system, there is still some Exhaust spillover into the...
Gearcase Oil should not 'Seep out' at any time. Have you put any of this seepage on your finger and smelled it? Gear Oils generally stink to High Heaven, and that stench is hard to remove, though Bleach, right from the Jug does kill it.

Is the replacement Prop the same Brand and Model/Lineage/Part #? 6 props, all 13 X 19, can provide 6 different Kinds of Outcomes. Blade shape, blade area, rake, cupping, will all play a factor.
Even with Drum Brakes, if you try backing up an Incline, unless you Physically Lock out the Actuator, the Brakes will be applied. Of course, if they are way out of Adjustment, you might get away with it
You've already learned about the Properties of the Metal the Cowl Pan is made of. The Blow that bent/twisted it was spread over a bigger area, and all at once, than what you are doing by prying a bit here and there. You say it landed Face first, busting the carb Mixture Control, or did it land...
The Fly in the Ointment, is what is the Airflow capacity of the OEM Carb and the Characteristic of the OEM Intake. If the Intake can flow more are and the OEM carb was the restriction, then yes the Holley would improve the power. If the Intake is the Restriction, then a bigger carb, will...
If a 2bbl can provide all the Airflow required, a properly set up 4 bbl will not provide more. The 5 liter spinning at 5000 rpm with a Volumetric Efficiency of 75-80% needs about 350cfm, so like I said, the 2bbl Holley is very close to that. However a small 4bbl, around 400cfm will have smaller...
Leave it connected, and run a few tanks of Premix, then check to see if the Oil has dropped in the Oil Tank. If it hasn't then you know it isn't working. If it has dropped then it is adding some oil.
