1984 115 hp mercury inline 6 Trim problems.

I had that exact same engine, and its PT system got water in it and quit too. However it was under warranty. I recall the Owners Manual said to use AFT or Power Steering Fluid. Engine Oil was used in the older Pump-inside-the-Boat PT Systems

Why does my tandem axle trailer not have a backup solenoid?

Most Surge Brake Activators do have a Mechanical Lockout. Drum Brakes, by design, unless you are backing up up an Incline, you usually don't need to use it. Disk Brakes on the other hand, work very well in either Direction, so an Electric Solenoid, is needed, to prevent actuation

    Soak Bearings in Rust Remover?

That gear looks like it has a small Chip on one of the Teeth. I would likely be replacing the gearset too

    Soak Bearings in Rust Remover?

I have seen many Engineers proven wrong, sometimes by Physics, other times by those tasked building their Flawed Projects. I was fun to listen to them wail, "But the Book says It should work", as It didn't

    Prop size help please!

First thing is you need to know what the WOT Rpm Range for your engine is. 5000 is a bit high for that engine, so you will need more Pitch. I would talk real nice to a Local Dealer and see if he/she will let you try a few props, on the on the Condition that you will be buying One, and any that...

    Soak Bearings in Rust Remover?

Welcome to iboats WD 40 is a Water Dispersant, not a Rust Remover, nor can you buff Rust out. If the Gear's Surfaces have rusted then they should be replaced, as they will certainly continue to worsen, and the resulting loss of Material, will certainly chew up other Components inside the Drive...

    1978 Evinrude 140 V4 Only firing on 2 cylinders

I know that with the Crank rated engines, Porting the 90 block to the 115/140 specs(bigger Holes), and as carb change gave you a 115. To get to the 140 stage, the Heads needed to be changed, the Block machined to accept the Bubble Back, and some rejetting of the carbs(some 140c used larger carbs...

    Boat not planing

I would go with weight distribution first as setting the trim pin all the way in first, would bring the bow down, but with a loss of Efficiency from the upward Thrust, while a load rebalance might do the same but keep the prop thrust more Parallel to the direction of travel

I/O taking on water while sitting not moving

Your engine has 2 water pumps. The circulating pump, where a fan would be attached in a car/truck, and a Raw Water pump, that is either mounted on the Crankshaft, or driven by a belt, and located quite low

    Outboard top cylinder getting hot

If you add gorilla snot to the gasket, just do so sparingly so as not to block a Water Passage in the Gasket, like the Old Man did, resulting in the "Hot " Light coming on all the time that year
