    Thinking of getting salty

I assume your engine is raw water cooled? What about the trailer, tubular steel?

    Name this boat

Nice boat. Yours I mean. The old day cruiser is nothing but a shell if it's been sitting like that. And the shell would need work. Love the old water hot rods of old too. How fast does she run?

Removing remnants of elbow to manifold gasket on still attached manifold

Changing my elbow to manifold gaskets on my 2002 5.0 MPI (0M345638). I wasn't going to change the manifold to block gasket so the manifold is still attached. This is my first time doing this. This may be a dumb question but how careful do I need to be when scrapping off the remnants of the...

    Smarttabs

Nearly any planing boat can benefit from a trim system to one degree or another. My boat, a Bryant 214, didn't really suffer from performance issues but I desired lower planing speed, and some help with slow speed wander. I know the helm adjustable tabs are superior and I debated the...

    Lochridge prop

    Tahoe boat question.

That make is a very entry level build targeted at first time buyers. That doesn't mean it's junk. Boat building standards are good today. But...be prepared to DIY some things. If it means changing out screws for bolts with a piece of wood backing under it, do it and you'll have a fine boat...

19' to 21' Bowriders or Sport Decks

Also in your price range recommend looking at Starcraft. Nice affordable designs in deck boat style layouts with outboards.

    Stainless Steele or NO..

Are you currently propped right? Is your motor turning at or close to the top end of the RPM range? If not you need to re-prop anyway so yes go stainless. If no other reason for durability. It's not worth a high end Mercury prop but I'd look at Solas or Turning Point. Watch for their...

Ran into a reef & 10 hour service

What happens at 10 hours? Is it due for service then? With no trailer how were you going to get the service done? If it's not having a negative affect just wait till the 10 hours and get it fixed then. It will have to be cut off and new one fashioned and re-welded. Prop shops are the place...

    Tahoe boat question.

Think you'll be ok without a windshield? I'm 61 and love to get out in the fall. I need a windshield.

Looking for Opinions on Super Bowriders

I often wonder how those with the monster center consoles, pontoons and bowriders keep them covered and clean. Yeah I know everyone does at first but over time my prediction is that's going to get tiring. Probably sour grapes on my part. I just don't have that many friends lol. The bow of a...

    Oil seal carrier o-ring

The Permatex I referred to is an equivalent to Mercury's Perfect Seal, or at least close enough. So yes it's common to use the Perfect seal at this location.

    Scotch Guard on Sunbrella

I use Starbrite Waterproofing. Cheaper than 303 and does a great job. Probably not quite as good as 303 but my boat is stored under cover.

    Oil seal carrier o-ring

To confirm, you're talking about the carrier under the pump housing? If memory serves me, there's two o-rings. The top smaller one rides on the shaft so that one gets grease. The big lower one I use Permatex Aviation sealer.

    Prop selection follow up.

Thanks for posting a follow up. Super glad you had a good experience re-propping. I'm surprised the smart tabs didn't reduce more of the porpoising. What happens when you go to hole #5?

Question on boat shopping: 1999 Crownline 202 5.0 liter

Seven kids and at least two adults is a load. You'll be fine tubing. Skiing is another story especially if slalom. Expect to down prop. If the kids stay into watersports my prediction is this is a two year boat.
