    150 hp lower unit replacement

All 90, 120 and 125Hp no Mercury style LU will fit your engine. The gear ration can be a bit different. There were three different ratio, 1.73:1, 1.93:1 and 2:1. I suppose your LU is a two piece drive shaft style. The Mercury style LU was from 1994 and up I believe. BTW There are a post not long...

    Wiring harness question

The black is the negative from battery. In the harness the black should be connect to the first (not the screw holding the terminal strip/busbar to the engine block) but next one from the bottom. There should be a jumper (metal clip) from the mounting screw (first screw from bottom) of the...

1976 Johnson 9.9 won’t “rev” when in the lake.

Sound like it runs at only one cylinder. Does it jump a spark with at least 5/16 in gap in atmosphere? Clean the carb and set the low speed needle at 1,5 turn out from lightly seated.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Only test for the CD module is voltage output to the ignition coils with a DVA meter. Other test as said before voltage output from the stator to the CD module and voltage output from the trigger to the CD module. Check the grounding of the CD modules and ignition coils mounting bracket to the...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Okey, that can be the thing that gives you the issue. Check all those thin wires, pull gently at the wire and check if it is loose at the lug. They can be loose under the shrink tube.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Yes, if this one is replacement for the OEM trigger. I have not checked which OEM trigger part number this one replaces. You can check at outboardignitiondotcom. They sells CDI Electronic parts.

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Looks like they have grounded the trigger to the housing and added a ground wire for the block at the new typ. In the old typ trigger the common wires are insulated to the ground and there is no ground wire. That why the old one have 4 more wires for the trigger signal. The trigger signal is a...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

I would suggest you to call Franz at Franz Marine Service. He is the man that knows all about Chrysler and Force. He will have the right trigger base and if he not have it, he will give you information where to find it.

    Chrysler 1057HF distributor

As Scott Danforth says you need a new (good used one will be okey) distributor cap and rotor. The rotor is complete with rotor shaft. The rotor is not removable from the shaft. The dist.cap need to be for a 4 cylinder Chrysler OB. 3 cylinders will not fit. Automotive distributor, cap and rotor...

Can I swap factory tilt/trim from Mercury version 85hp to US Marine version 85?

From my experience the 2 piece drive shaft was on some of the 85Hp from 1989 and the 90Hp from 1990 and up. Pre 1989 the 85Hp had the 1 piece drive shaft and the water impeller and impeller housing is different between the 1 piece drive shaft and the 2 piece. Both gear case will fit a 85, 90...

Question about pressed in carb seats

I do not know about that. You have to check the schematic for your engine. Actually I never do anything to the inlet valve needle more than clean it with carb cleaner after I have had them in my Finsonic (same as Ultrasonic cleaner but another brand) cleaner. Then I blow the carbs with...

Can I swap factory tilt/trim from Mercury version 85hp to US Marine version 85?

I have not worked with many engines with T&T but as you says it can be able to swap them. I think the hard thing is to loose the bolts and nuts holding the T&T to the swivel bracket. If it is a salt water engine it can be a real PIA.

How to wire a kill switch on a '77 Chrysler 135hp?

The keyswitch has connection between the B terminal and the I terminal in ON and START position. Connect the lanyard in series with the blue wire from the keyswitch. The engine will kill if you turn the key to OFF or if you pull the lanyard. The 12V power from the battery will be broken (off)...

How to wire a kill switch on a '77 Chrysler 135hp?

Yes as brodmann says if your engine has the Motorola Magna Power I ignition system. It is a battery powered distributor ignition system. First you have to check if your engine has a distributor, if not it can have the Prestolite system, the Magna power II system or has been converted to auto...

    '87 Force 125HP ignition problem

The Force power Ohms reading is mentioned in Outboardignitiondotcom and CDI Electronics troubleshooting charts. OEM Ohms reading for the stator windings 680-900 Ohm. CDI Ohms reading for the stator windings 250-350 Ohm. Have in mind when you check the resistance (Ohm) with a VOM or multimeter...

    '87 Force 125HP ignition problem

The Force power maybe I misunderstand you but the stator windings should read infinity to ground. They should have no connection to ground. Brown/black/yellow (or yellow) and brown/black/blue(or (blue) feeding pack for #3 and #4 cylinder 680-900 Ohms, infinity to ground. The same for the other...

New to the site with a question about a 1996 90hp Force

In my opinion that synthetic oil will be good enough. Discussions about which LU oil or two stroke oil is best for your outboard can be a never ending story at internet forums. Use the gear oil that fits your walet. I use gear oils 75W90 or 80w90 that are for automotive gears. The only different...
