    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

TCD=temp control device PCD=pressure control device Yes I've seen the parts list. But what does your engine have? Don't have much time right now to look at the pics, did you post a pic of the O2 feedback monitor?

Ignition system common failures? 1994 7.4GL

Will it idle with the screws turned in? Most of the testing is for a "no spark" issue. I'm a fix what you got (if you can) kind of guy. Serial Number?

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I didn't get a chance to finish my post. EMWT= exhaust manifold water temp ERWT= exhaust riser water temp also when on Diacom look for EGT= exhaust gas temp. This is also a sensor you might have depending on what exhaust manifolds you have. The EGT is different from the water temp senders, it's...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

DTC = Diagnostic trouble code SPN / FMI = Suspect Parameter Number / Failure Mode Indicator Diacom displays engine DTC’s (for the –J model and later engines) in a 2 part format based on the J1939 protocol. The first number in the DTC is the SPN (suspect parameter number) and the second...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Hi Lou, I’m sometimes a little leery to engage with someone who writes with such passion. Abominations? As in “a thing that causes disgust or hatred” or “a feeling of hatred” wow tell me how you really feel. But sometimes people post opinions that don’t quite match up with reality. Kind of...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

@Donald0039 I recommend that you. Volvo lists this engine as never being registered. Suggest you contact your local dealer and get this registered in your name. It's possible this engine is subject to factory recalls and/or updates. Because it was never registered nobody would have been...

That will probably depend on if the OP is doing the required maintenance and replacing the exhaust manifold anodes as needed.

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

Yes @Lou C is pretty much correct with the temperature needs of a catalyst. In the first years of cats. Volvo went with thermostats to control temps, MerCruiser used poppet valves. I thought at the time thermostats would be a more precise method. Turns out they are, but also have some issues...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I think we both end up at the same page. Volvo's new EPC seems to have a few glitchs. Sometimes I will get the page I posted, sometimes I need to refreash the main page to find it. Also noted that according to this EPC, if you want to buy an TPS, you must purchase the throttlebody complete? Got...

    2012 VP 300 C-A Exhaust manifolds getting too hot - DTC 441 & 442

I use, https://www.volvopenta.com/en-us/service-and-support/your-engine/manuals-and-handbooks/ and paste the serial number. Freshwater cooling was an option this year, not sure if it was a full system or not. DTC 441 and 442 don't show up in the service manual for this serial number. O.P. Volvo...

Ignition system common failures? 1994 7.4GL

Google "how to tell if my holley 4 barrel power valve is bad" Guessing you have the Prestolite B.I.D. distributor. The weak points, leaving the key on when engine isn't running (it causes issues with the ignition module), air gap out of adjustment or excessive wear in the shaft bushings. And yes...

VP 350 V8 Warning Light (Regal 28 Express)

There are only a few things that will trigger RPM reduction. Trim isn’t one of them. The yellow warning light only comes on with an emissions fault. The engine needs to be scanned. Continuing to operate it could cause expensive failure.

CEL, Unusual Whine, and Limp Home Mode?

Good Plan of action. As is @Bondo with the clear jar. I would recommend that you read your owners manuals that will explain questions like the low fuel light. If you don't have access to them, they are available for free download. Regal owners manual-...

    IAC problems

I have lost the ability to search by HIN. Will need serial number to help further. I spend a fair bit of time talking to someone who repairs ECMs. They tell me most die because of a problem with the engine. Low voltage, high voltage, voltage where it oughtn't be and a faulty component like a...

DPS-A trim sensor drives me nuts

There are different senders available and different gauge packages. I fixed one boat that the trim gauge wasn’t working, it was the tachometer that needed to be replaced. Gotta love some of this can bus technology. Intelligent Troubleshooting can be less costly then swapping parts.
