does this prop seem "reasonable" for this combination?

Using your RPM upper engine spec as a limit, toss it on and see what happens. If it works good unless you are alone and it wants to over rev., you know where the throttle control is located. Grin

    Speed Plateaus at 5200rpm

Its not necessarly "the extra blade". Its a completely different design with a different desired outcome.....stern lifting with the 4 blade, getting the ass up and minimizing drag, or bow lifting raising the bow (at speed) to get the wetted area reduced.....in the Solace tutorial and when you...

better to be at the low end or top end of RPM?

I have half a dozen sitting around, Laser, Ballistic 22 and 24P, Solace, all 3 blade SS, and a pile of 3 and 4 blade Hustler high performance aluminum in 3 and 4 blade. Since I gave my 90 and rig to the local fire-rescue that had no boat to police a local town lake, I had props left over from...

    72 glastron/General boat question..

I commented on this with a like but I'm having a concern. There are several types of "splash wells" that catch the back wash that sometimes comes over the transom, especially 15" transoms either from rough water following seas, or by the boat being operated at reasonable to high speed and the...

Been here just an awhile but I’ve noticed……that

Some do, some don't. Seems the more time you spend with a person the more they share the experience and the conclusion.

1974 Invader Boat Company Giddings texas interior logo

I didn't know they were made in Giddings, Tx. Boats were popular as they were reasonably priced and served their owners well as I could see/hear. Learn something new every day. So we had Invader, Lamar, on the Gulf freeway in Lamar,Tx on the way to Galveston, Glastron fiberglass in Austin...

Interesting new on the water fail

When I was a kid we had to do that more frequently than desired. The trick i used was to ensure that you had a long fuel line, clear was always preferred but seldom available back then and suck hard for half a second and immediately jerk the hose to the side out of your mouth and pointed to a...

    72 glastron/General boat question..

The usual deck drain hole is a brass tube. The metal-mechanical part of the "ribbed rubber" plug is adjustable for a snug fit on varying drain tube dimensions....within a certain range. Did you verify that the top plug is the splash well drain? Are there any visible flotation mechanisms...

    72 glastron/General boat question..

Wally world has pugs in the sporting goods dept specifically made for the bilge drain...lower hole. Leave the upper hole open and for identification purposes of this upper hole, look into the splash well in front of the engine and you should see it (from the inside), verifying that it is the...

better to be at the low end or top end of RPM?

Running low (end of the power band) RPMs with a loaded engine puts excess strain on the moving engine parts and on non fuel injected engines, causes more fuel consumption......intake manifold vacuum is high sucking fuel harder. HP is developed with torque and RPMs. 4 strokers usually have...

    Speed Plateaus at 5200rpm

Solace has a tutorial on their www explaining why you would use a 3 or 4 blade and the effects built into the blade design. As others have said, a 4 blade is to get a heavy ass up which reduces load on the engine and increases speed and a 3 blade is to get the nose up, reducing wetted surface...

Hooked up my battery with the wrong polarity

The older you get you will notice an increase in "brain farts". Ask me, I'll tell you all about them.

    got me a new boat!

I bought a half sunk in a marina, '65 18' Holiday with a 110 Mercruiser; my first restoration and quite a story in getting it done but I did and the family enjoyed outings in it.

    Believe it. Not needed!

Does the switch box impact the rev limiter?

On another site where I have been working with you, balls in your court on waiting for your results with the kill wire disconnected from the RL. There is no wiring connection from the RL back to the SB serving as an input.

    Propeller

I guess I missed answering this. Yes but with reservations as stated. Its a real simple task and could be the smoking gun. The yellow/black, or black/yellow pin on the limiter is the killer...disconnect it and if that's the problem, keep your RPMs below 5250. Faztbullet has answsered the...

    Propeller

That engine, like my 2002 115, has a rev limiter designed to kick in at 5250. Let him go.

Hooked up my battery with the wrong polarity

If you killed anything it would be the rectifier diodes inside the rectifier/regulator module with cathodes tied to ground since there is no resistance in the circuit with power applied in reverse. The fuse is normally (my experience) in a black rubber container with cap in one of the red leads...

Asking alot of a little outboard. best prop pitch?

If you got 20 out of it and snappy response you are pretty close on pitch for the load for the test. Yes more folks mean more strain on the engine but you can get the tach and check RPMs where you boat the most....prop for that and when running light, pay attention to over revving.

Asking alot of a little outboard. best prop pitch?

Check out Tiny Tach. Wraps around a spark plug wire....crude but once you have your number you don't need to monitor it. Lawnmowers use them. I don't know if they have a 2 stroke adaptation or not. Cheap form of info. If you don't prop for mid to upper RPM (recommended range) WOT your...
