    Best fuel economy is at 3600 -3800 RPM.-----A lot depends on the boat as well.

    Let oil sit for a few days.-----Look for water if any.

    Was there water in the oil ?-----Or tiny air bubbles?-------Put oil in glass jar for a few days and see what happens.

    Check and see if driveshaft splines are the same.----Yes , they are line bored.

    Many years ago I worked in a tire factory ( quality control ) ---Today I tell folks that ----" they are all black , but they are not all the same "------Today I say the same thing about impellers.------Put a new one in at least every 5 years.

    Rebuilt a mid 60's 4 cylinder 65 HP on behalf of a dealer last winter.----Parts are not that hard to find.----A lot depends on your location.

    I would say that the impeller / pumps are much misunderstood. -----They are critical for long motor life.----On most motors they should be replaced every 5 years.----And even more often in when running in cold water !

    ???----Agreed , there is no alarm on the motor itself.-----Alarm buzzer is in the control box.----Clear communication is needed.

    He is taking about rotating the flywheel to reposition the vanes.----Hopefully no one flips impeller over.
