    Some beepers have a wee circuit in them,----When power is applied they do a " self check " and then turn off.----That little " circuit " can be defective.----The faint tone can also mean a poor connection or a wire touching ground somewhere.

    Is 40 lbs pressure enough?

    Some motors are shy running on a hose.--Too much air in pressurized water is the reason.-------Take boat to launch ramp and test there.

    Testing in a bucket the water must be 6 " above the impeller.-----And motors need a new impeller about every 5 years.

    Cylinder head will be warped.----They all are with age.----Refinish it with emery paper on glass , before installing a new head gasket.

    Take starter motor apart for inspection.----Have battery load tested.----Inspect battery cables and connections.

    When there is a chance that impeller ran dry as in post #1, the impeller should be replaced.

    Possibly overheat?---Possibly water was trapped there and it froze.----Nothing to worry about.----Why did you take the head off ?

    At idle there is nowhere near as much heat created as at full throttle.-----Incoming air and fuel cool the parts to prevent catastrophic failure.
