    Hi. Can happen at anytime really. Could also be the fuel pump compromised. But most times this happens, it’s just crap causing the float valve to not seal or even stick the float. Takes 10 mins to check. Simple enough to check and even simpler if you find it’s just a gasket

    Yeah. It’s also a Yamaha. They made a 3.5 and a 5hp Yamaha and mariner. More common was the mariner 5hp version for sure. More common again was the 3.5hp in both forms. They even made a wee 2hp air cooled too. Lovely old engines. Here is a picture of the now very scarce 5hp Yamaha version

    Usually that would mean that your float needle valve isn’t seating or sealing properly. Either that or your carb gasket has lost its seal or been nipped.     Mercury 4000 side mount remotes unit issues

    Thanks AD. Sent an email to mercury and speaking to the local tomorrow. It’s done all sorts of subsequent damage elsewhere, I’ve found. Fuses melted but just holding on. Smart craft junction box suspect now too.
