    No longer made in USA

    It’s the way of the world these days, by the looks. I just yesterday had my mercury 4000 model remotes box and throttle lever in bits, looking for a shorting issue. Eventually got to the trim switch. Was shocked to read “made in china” when I got the thing out.

    Ok. So the good news is that the mechanics and relays sound as if they are all ok. Bad news (but least expensive news) is that it’s pretty likely that it’s a fault with your actual trim switch or its wiring. Is there a switch on the transom or somewhere near the back of the boat too ? Any pics...

    Trim has an operating range of all the way down to only a certain amount up. The prop will stay in the water and is designed to still operate at speed at its upper limits still. Tilt is trailer and will operate from all the way down to all the way up out the water for trailering and out the water

    Hi Chris. Just read your reply there. Is that all the psi range needed on those engines ? Didn’t know they ran that low a pressure. Very low compared to the 2016 merc 2.1l I have. That shows about 15 psi just at idle.

    I’d guess that if it was working when you went to view it and buy…and it’s now not working up or down or any which way…your issue is likely and hopefully as simple as the battery being isolated. Does anything else work like the ignition etc ?

    So unique sounding wee thing. Yet to hear another short block that sounds the same as this wee boat. I think the cam definitely makes her sound so lumpy and coughy perhaps. Spits and coughs at idle. And that’s only showing one of the exits
