    Prop spin

Ok. Just read your first post again. Racerone is correct if it’s in gear. Totally normal to see what you have in the video when in gear. Got to be the prop hub bushing or kit that’s failed…unless maybe it’s to do with engine set up for height and trim use ? Tell us more about the issue. What...

    Prop spin

Ah. That’s likely normal then. So can you rotate it freely when in neutral ?

    1994 Criscraft crowne 322

Ok. Sounds like the sx can be reversed like I was saying earlier then. Any idea of the ratio of the outdrives ? You could work out roughly then, what a good starter pitch would be. Other than doing that, you could take a guess given the size of the boat etc etc. just fit a starter trial. But...

    Prop spin

Is she definitely not in gear ? Sure sounds like a prop hub issue otherwise

    Prop spin

You’re not a man I’d question on things like this racerone. I have the suspicion that you know something I don’t about this particular engine maybe ? I know it’s not normal on my outdrive and my outboard boats with Mercury and mercruiser. Sounds like there might be a reason for it on this...

    1994 Criscraft crowne 322

They probably aren’t counter rotating, I’d guess. Although could be wrong. Very easy to find out though. Put them both in forward gear and see what reaction you get when turning the prop shafts by hand. Is there not props on it now ? Even easier to tell by them. if they are counter rotating...

    Prop spin

Are you saying that when in neutral and engine off…the prop shaft will not allow you to rotate it 360 degrees?

MerCruiser 5.0 MPI pinging/detonation at higher RPMs

Just read your original post again there. Just about the compression test results. Cheap gauge or not…the variance shown may be a concern there. You may have something else going on there after all. Hopefully it’s just as a result of variances of a cold engine or fuel washing and losing the seal...

MerCruiser 5.0 MPI pinging/detonation at higher RPMs

All symptoms of the infamous diz cap. Honestly. If it’s not the cause. It won’t be a waste of money buying one anyway. Because it will be soon.

MerCruiser 5.0 MPI pinging/detonation at higher RPMs

Hi. There is no adjustment on the distributor to speak really. The timing is done by the ecu. On the distributor, for initial set up only, there are two lines marked on the base. As long as you are between these lines, the position is set and the ecu takes over from there. That said and not an...

    1987 Mercruiser 165 trim question

Last time I suggested that (correctly)….I was hounded by a few enthusiasts on here ! Glad you said it first ! Anyway. You could take the rams off at the end or maybe out it in forward and see if it lifts up and block it there.

MerCruiser 5.0 MPI pinging/detonation at higher RPMs

run it off a remote fuel tank with fresh fuel and change the distributor cap, if that doesn’t work. Make sure you have the correct iridium plugs in it.

    Can I replace a Mercruiser 5.0L with a 4.5L engine?

As said. I think you have the hp wrong there. Anyway. It will cost you a fortune to do that idea…and end up in disappointment too. You can still get a direct replacement 5.0 or 5.7 gm engine, if you wanted. Look at the repower site.

Fuse blows between CDI pack , replace fuse but now engine bogs and slowly picks up speed

Hi. I can’t just remember, but either that fuse holder or the other just forward of it on my 150 merc was intermittently failing. It caused the engine to run poorly and a couple of times, fail to start. I had to cable tie it securely that day, for it to stop its issues.

    Trim position sensor

Hi. Not sure if it helps..but there is a measurement you need to take along the reach of the drive trim arms. Something like 22” or something similar…to help position the sender to a certain position. Then tiny adjustments to dial it in from there really. That’s if the sender itself is actually...

2002 Yamaha 200 HPDI. Appreciate any help

I had it in mind that they may only have had one fuel pump in the vst. Think you’re right. As in there isn’t a low and high pressure pump. Just a float and a pump in there. Might be wrong.

    2011 MERCURY 4.3L TKS - QUESTION

I get that. Fair comment AD. I’d maybe mention that the true rpm shown by the ecu is often a fair bit different to the analogue indication. Handy for that at least. The fuel use is obviously handy too. The p’s and t’s are sent through a digital conversion module on the outboard at least. Similar...

    Oil Change Vacuum Merc Adapters

Could maybe argue that with just the tube, you have a greater suction created with less effort. Never found it an issue with warm oil. Use a pela vacuum pump and it’s extracted in a few minutes. Either way, I’d rather get all the oil out. Usually flush a little fresh stuff through there then...

    2011 MERCURY 4.3L TKS - QUESTION

I wouldn’t imagine it would be worth while either to be fair. Added to that, he still wouldn’t get the info that the smart craft would give when used with the mpi or similar. I must admit…I think it’s amazing to have on my mpi v8 and the merc outboard boat I have. Pin point accuracy info...
