4.3 TKS "Run On" fixed but Slight Loss in Performance

Not sure these call for iridium plugs originally. Also not sure you can or are meant to gap those either. Speed is easily lost or gained by many many things, as you’ll know. Especially if you are using the dash speedo for speed. I can lose 5-7 mph having more fuel…an extra passenger, having the...

1994 mariner 135 2.0l trouble starting and won’t stay running in neutral

All of the above is relevant…as long as she still has compression obviously. Hopefully the oil injection has been done away with by now and you’re pre mixing.

1994 mariner 135 2.0l trouble starting and won’t stay running in neutral

Obvious first place to start would be the fuel quality and delivery to the engine. If the above is known and proven to be good…no water in fuel and filter clear and proven fresh fuel to the engine itself…then it’s almost certainly going to be a carb related issue. Does she stay running if you...

Slow plane at high altitude 5.0L MPI, please help

18” is too much prop at altitude for sure. Likely too much at sea level to see its best too. I’d go down to a 17” and see what happens. Even with a 17”…you’d do well to see the top of the Rpms I’d say.

    Trim Tab Anode

Haha. The prop nearly did that job for me !! I actually did just that…but ultimately ended up just biting the bullet and getting a hydraulic steering kit. All was well afterwards.

    Newbie needs some help please!

Hi. Looking at your picture there..I’d say your power steering pump is sitting a little in the slack position. That full cap is usually vertical and square. Check that hasn’t came loose or slack

Low Compression in two cylinders and blowby

I’d say you’ve either had and overheat or a manifold failure at some point in the past…it’s ruptured the head seal between the two cylinders…

They were indeed. Yamaha engines on the 40, 55 and 60. But the 45hp of the same era was a merc 4 cylinder the same as the classic 50, I’m sure. Like this one. These were around from the early to mid 80s…up to late 80’s, I’d think.

Should there be a Sleeve Propeller Bore on 200HP Merc 3.4L V6

But to be honest…the odds on favourite to cause this, would surely be a fuel or fuel delivery issue, you’d think. Do you have smart craft gauges ? Does the rpm fluctuate at idle

Should there be a Sleeve Propeller Bore on 200HP Merc 3.4L V6

Is it possible you might have damage to the steering bushes ?

    Trim Tab Anode

Hi. I’d imagine in this case, it’s because often on boats like this, people prop them with big diameter props to get the best out of the application. Bigger diameter props will hit the standard trim anode fin. There is a cut back one you can buy…or the flat one without the fin at all. On my...

Should there be a Sleeve Propeller Bore on 200HP Merc 3.4L V6

Not sure. But I know it only seems to be an issue usually found in the early 115ct and 150 gearbox from around 2014-2017 perhaps. After that (or maybe earlier by a little) they changed the design of the part. Shouldn’t affect things in neutral though, I’d say. Even if this was the issue.

Good afternoon every one, I'm a new member for this forum, from Malaysia. Happy to meet you all, friends. I'm utilizing Outboard Mercury 115, 4 stroke

Just have a look at the arrow on the primer bulb. See what way it’s facing. They should only go one way. Don’t need it on this engine, as said, but may be handy occasionally for priming any water separator filter you might have…

Was also the identical engine to the mariner 45 in the early days…but merc decals said 50.

Mercruiser 5.0 MPI #3 cylinder ignition miss

Any sign of water at the plugs on that side of the engine ? Could be just a lead. But I’d swap over the leads like AD says. See if it replicates on number 5

Chaparral SSI 196 - prop recommendation

2016 Mercruiser 4.5l Shift Interrupt switch

Hi. The most obvious reason for this would be bad fuel or clogged filter perhaps. Do you have smart craft gauges or vessel view mobile installed ? A shift interruption error would come up on these. Like mine below

As far as I know. These engines ran from about early 80’s to late 80’s or just touching 90. Be somewhere around there. Depending on the decals on it. I’m not good with serial numbers and age. But I know roughly from the decal colours. There aren’t many things that make these beep. And some...
