    3.7 to 4.3 swap

Only engine that will drop straight in without fuss, is a 3.0. Anything with a v needs plenty of messing.

New to me 2009 4.3 stern drive

I’d hazard a guess that the manifold has had a repair job done previously, after a frosty incident.

    Bought a 5.0 mercury kicker 03

Certainly…as long as the bracket allows the prop to reach low enough to be taking a flow of water from under the hull and not just behind the transom.

    Mercruiser 4.3 knocking noise

I’ve heard a balance shaft being noisy on a 4.3 bortec mpi recently. It didn’t sound quite like this and was particularly evident just when you stop it, more than anything else. Not sure what this is.

'22 Mercury 115 Pro XS, best prop?

That wee boat in the picture has its engine too low ! The av plate will not be level when in place either 😂

'22 Mercury 115 Pro XS, not CT, prop?

Is the engine height correct on the boat ? Really think something isn’t right here. I’d think you are low on rpms for a set up like that and only 17” pitch. What gauges do you have ? Are they accurate. You’re showing 1% slip there. Something isn’t right for sure.

2009 350 mag mis at wide open.

Did you get a new diz cap ? It would be at the very top of my list of suspects.

Impeller issue on Alpha 1 Gen2?

I’d be checking the water isn’t coming out somewhere in the engine bay, as a result of frost damage perhaps…or a loose fitting ?
  9. Q

'22 Mercury 115 Pro XS, best prop?

I think something isn’t right here. You should be much higher in the rpms as you’re set up.

18' 190hp bowrider nicked prop upgrade

Hi. I think you’re probably about 1000 rpm off on what your boat is actually getting in terms of rpms. It would be impossible to see that speed at 4000 rpm, I’d think.
  11. Q

    Grinding Noise

Possibly. He did say it happens when he shifts into gear.
  12. Q

    Grinding Noise

Surely it’s possible it’s just out the water and the usual straight cut shifting noise ? Simple things first

2008 5.7 mpi running rich and low idle, under 600rpm

Hi. Cleaning these caps…mostly doesn’t do much. Get a new one for sure. Especially given your situation. I’d also say that all mpi run rich until they warm up. Very obviously too.

New SeaPro 150 HP (Fuel Ball Question)

I don’t have one on my newish 115 CT.
  15. Q

    Grinding Noise

Maybe not the issue…but good to be aware that going into gear on the trailer sounds scary and so different from in the water. Thought I’d mention.

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

the sea water pressure is always dead low at idle on a trailer. There is no back pressure at all sure.

    Underlying fault reset. Mpi

Thanks for that. The thing is…I’ve only used the boats a few times since then and only with lower pitch prop. So it limits easily anyway. Never really noticed if it was limiting at 5100 or 10% less.
  18. Q

    Underlying fault reset. Mpi

Not sure Chris. I’ll have a look, next time she is in the water. It definitely showed up when it happened. But thought it cleared. Just weird that it’s still on the proper software. I’ll run the prop with more pitch to see if it’s being restricted too.
  19. Q

    Underlying fault reset. Mpi

Yeah. That’s the thing though Chris. It’s no longer showing as a fault on the VesselView. Only shows up on the dealer system, when he logged into it last week. Haven’t used the boat since last year and only used it about 4/5 times in total since the date the fault is logged on. When it was...
