4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

No. All you need comes with the VesselView mobile kit. Harness and all that is included. It’s only the small yellow cap you’d need…if yours is purple on the engine now.

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

@achris will know when and what year the yellow caps were fitted standard from, instead of the old purple weather cap mine had. I’m sure it was from about 2005/06 onwards.

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

it’s not really an adapter to be fair. But if you have the purple end weather cap on the plug on the engine, you’ll need to order what’s called a yellow terminator cap (resistor) for it to work. That’s all you’d need. But if I was a betting man..I’d think you would already have the yellow cap...

    89' 90 H.P. 3 Cylinder 2 Stroke Battery Charging Issue

Hi. Likely you have good advice above for sure. But me being me…always looking for the simple answer perhaps. When you say you are having issues charging the battery…under what conditions ? You’ll often get next to nothing of a charge at low rpms. Just enough to keep the engine running. It’s...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Mine had a purple cap on it, being a 2003 mpi. I think they changed to yellow around 2005/2006 maybe. If it’s purple, you need to buy a yellow one. They are like $20/30 at the most. The plug will definitely be there somewhere for sure. Can be anywhere from near the throttle body to way back and...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

It’s not that plug, it goes into. It’s this one. At your age of engine, it should have a yellow terminator cap on it. You take that off and plug in the device. Then put the yellow cap on the spare end of the device loom. You’ll find this up the back of the engine somewhere. It shows you...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

It sure is. Great thing. I’ve got one for my mpi 2003 v8 and my 2016 merc outboard. My friend has one on his 4.3 mpi too. 100% it will work. Look up VesselView mobile on YouTube. An amazing thing to have. All mpi owners should definitely have one. If not for the fault diagnosis alone…for the...

Help Reading Miles on 92 Seaswirl Engine Tachometer

No probs. If your hours are anything like that…you’ve got a good engine at least. Nothing wrong with a high hours and well maintained engine !

Help Reading Miles on 92 Seaswirl Engine Tachometer

Hi. All these type hour meters are good for…is for keeping an eye on service intervals. Most of them like this are fitted as an aftermarket and afterthought by the owner. If they are wired wrongly, you could be counting up hours as soon as the battery is connected, believe it or not. One of my...

    Why is my carb oxidizing????

wondering if it is having an effect on things, should it be poorly connected or poorly earthed near by. although I suspect the whole top end of the engine looks as if it is suffering severe corrosion issue. But if that carb was new last year...something is going on for sure. Never noticed that...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Hi. If you get a $200 VesselView mobile device. You can plug it into the engine and have all engine data and fault shown on your phone or tablet via Bluetooth. Very handy thing. Saved me plenty of money over the years. That will tell you exactly what your issue is.

    Mariner Id

Won’t be far off. Those type and shape ran from about 83-87ish…over here in the uk at least. Then we’ll into the 90’s with different decals. Identical to the Mercury engine. Yours would have been one of the first models like it, I’d think. And around the time when Yamaha and Mercury made the...

conversion to electronic ignition for Volvo penta-5.7 GXI-J

I’m confused a little too. Always have been by some of the VP’s like this. I always though the Gi was the single point injection and the gxi was the mpi if you like. But I’m aware there is an osi that may be mpi too. You saying that the newer Gi is an mpi has thrown me another curve ball, haha.

115 Pro XS Command Thrust on a pontoon - prop?

If I was driving for perfection (although I think you’ve done so well as things are now)…I might suggest that if you can find a prop of a little more pitch but less diameter (that one is a huge diameter now)…you may offset the pitch a little to keep you near the top end of the rpms. But then you...

2005 Crownline Fuel System Charge/Prime on key turn

Hope it works for you man. Other hopeful solution, would be a battery connection. But I’d try the lanyard off then on and see what happens.

2005 Crownline Fuel System Charge/Prime on key turn

Hi. My suggestion isn’t nearly as clever as the guys above…but having a similar engine myself…I can tell you that a dodgy kill switch lanyard system can do this exact thing. With that failing or loose, you won’t get the pump priming or ignition…but it will turn over the engine. I use this very...

Is there anyone on here with experience rebuilding Yamaha 2 strokes?

Hi there. You likely haven’t helped yourself any here. But, yeah, I’ve rebuilt a few Yamaha 2 strokes before. What exactly do you need to know, apart from the basic info above ? Until then, I’d suggest you go easy on the power head bolts for sure…just to get you started. Other than that and the...

    Why is my carb oxidizing????

That’s surely been in the sea at some point and had a flooded engine bay, or a raw water coolant leak/spray. It’s not just the carb that’s corroded, by the looks of it.

conversion to electronic ignition for Volvo penta-5.7 GXI-J

I think a Gi would be a single point TBI efi engine with electronic ignition already...surely.
