My 1984 Sea Ray part verification please

I’d take a guess that this is referring to the resistor that similar (slightly older) engines with the same part would have. Like the Volvo Penta AQ271 for example.

    Overheat

Good advice above from Scott. Likely it’s overheated and melted the flapper off and blocked things up. But if she ran ok last time you used her…and this is your first outing after winter…often your overheat can be caused by a hose or drain plug being left off or loose, from winterising. Just a...

    Tachometer Bad?

Hi. I’ve seen this happen loads. Also seen them go back to working normally once you start the engine and give it a flick. One of my boats that spends most of the year in storage does it all the time on the faria gauge. Right at this moment…it’s sitting showing 1500 rpm…but I know if I go use...

    Underlying fault reset. Mpi

Hi Despite the fault clearing on the VesselView and not evident. The shift anticipate fault in screenshot below is still lurking when the dealer logs into my data. This is a 90% guardian error, I think. Do I need the proper rinda plugged in to reset this ? Strange that it’s still showing up on this.

Alpha 2 not coming out of gear after new interrupt switch.

My mpi occasionally has a shift interruption error. Happens at full throttle when the assembly nudge contacts the switch. Had to adjust the assembly to stop it happening.

Alpha 2 not coming out of gear after new interrupt switch.

Other than the switch causing the issue…had the throttle assembly been disturbed and causing a higher idle than normal ?

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Yeah. Lots of things you can select and make your own custom page of data read outs.

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Is it not varying in rpms this time around. Up to 2500 ? Did you have a look at all the readings on the vessel view ? You can create your own selection of read outs. Press the screen on the rpms readout then it goes into a menu with a few basic read outs like oil pressure. Select to create...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Not sure if I mentioned it earlier in the post…because I go on about it all the time…but the diz cap on these are famous for messing things up…and don’t show anything in terms of faults usually. I’ve had 5 of them mess things up on my mpi. Can do anything from not start randomly…to just not...

New to the forum, looking for help.

Check that carb again. 99 times of a 100…it’s the carb. Check the diaphragm too. Only Other things would be the obvious ones…like bad fuel, primer bulb the wrong way round, vent closed on tank, spark plugs. Be one of the above.

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Ok. So given what you’ve said so far. I’m thinking this is a sea water pressure sensor issue or a genuine low water pressure or overheat as a result of. Look at the vessel view indications when it’s running. Check the water pressure and temperature reading. Check all readings. If one of them is...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Ok. Just read the rest of what has been mentioned just recently. So just to be clear. Is it that it is limiting to 2000 rpm or so when you rev it in neutral ? Or when in gear and underway? Because these 4.3 mpi have an rpm limiter in neutral that won’t allow you to Rev the engine above a capped...

Trim question for the new 150 HP SeaPro Outboard.

Yea. There is a method of doing this. You need to unplug a couple of connectors under the cowling hood or something similar. Then re connect when you are at the maximum desired height. Have a search online about it. It’s something like that, you need to do. Just found a link with instructions...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Yeah. You just block those ones. Did you sign up and log in to the Mercury thing ? You only get basic fault info if you don’t. But further to that even, if you speak to a dealer near you…then select them as your “preferred dealer” on the map (when it comes up with the dealers near you, press on...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Yeah. Exactly correct. 100% needs the yellow cap. Then that goes onto the open end on the loom. Won’t work without the yellow cap

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Haha. No pressure ! So if you have smart craft gauges, you can plug it into a junction box under the dash (usually), but in the poster’s case…it will be the plug as described in my earlier posts. Hope that helps the guy.

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

Excellent. You won’t regret getting this for the boat. Total game changer for sure. Brilliant for getting your boat propped well too. With the rpms and speed being pin point accurate too. But most useful for me is it telling you the range left you have at the speed you are currently doing. So...

4.3L MPI 2007 Searay Sport 185. Single Alarm at 20 RPMs and higher

No worries. You’ll find it soon enough. Take the engine plastic air filter cover off and have a good look down the back. Probably be under or near the distributor cap area around the ecu mounting somewhere. Just saw lots of pictures of it on your engine there, by searching 4.3 mpi smartcraft...
