    454 mag mpi chuggles/stalls

so again, that MAP is increasing for no reason. shouldn't be with the IAC closing... I'm still curious as to what the timing is doing

2005 4.3 liter Mercruiser ignition trouble

so test the resistance across the terminals is the ignition switch and see if you're getting continuity between b and i/s when in run/start

2005 4.3 liter Mercruiser ignition trouble

sorry, I misread it. so you do have 12v at the red/pur when cranking

2005 4.3 liter Mercruiser ignition trouble

that red/purple is always live. it isn't a problem with the switch if you're losing power at that wire when cranking.

As AD said, need to know what ignition you have. EST works different than the TB or points.

    Oil Pressure Sender failure modes?

I am aware. project with the boy. figured it would be relatively simple, carb'd 2 stroke, right? "all it needs is a battery". and then sea doo entered the chat. still in the planning stages interesting. hadn't thought to do that. wondering how annoying that alarm would be in practice...

    Oil Pressure Sender failure modes?

I am so underwater with easy projects I can't tell you. Busy hurricane-proofing today. I finally got the boat working well enough that I actually cleaned it yesterday for the first time this year...Next easy boat project is a momentary switch for the fuel pump. And finish the other side of the...

    Oil Pressure Sender failure modes?

I have no alarms on the boat, and have been toying with installing some for a long time. if the alarm went off and the pressure dropped, then I know it's the real thing

    Oil Pressure Sender failure modes?

yeah bored. just curious as to what exactly was causing it to do that. it caused me much angst when the op suddenly dropped while on plane with a crew, but only intermittently

are there boat "salvage yards" anywhere in the U.S.?

There was one across the river from me, but looks like they closed. They were expensive anyway. Check out larger independent marinas/mechanics. All of them around me have scores of junk boats, and i've hit them up for random parts in the past.

Pre Alpha Mercruiser lower shift shaft removal?

Why are you trying to remove it? If you do then you'll need disassembly. If you're just trying to replace the seal, then like BT says you "simply" unscrew it. Though I doubt it will unscrew without a fight.

    1986 Mercruiser 170 running issue

Yeah, sounds like it's flooding though certainly other possibilities. Does it happen if you have it sitting at a fast (~1500 rpm ) idle? If you look down the carb throat while idling, can you see fuel from the venturis?

2005 4.3 liter Mercruiser ignition trouble

Voltage drop test is measuring the voltage on either side of a connection when it's under load. With your meter on DCV, you probe each side of the connection. The voltage should be close to zero. If it's higher than that it means there's significant resistance across the connection, either...

2005 4.3 liter Mercruiser ignition trouble

you should have zero resistance across the connections. zero from red/pur wire at the 50a fuse, zero across the cannon plug, zero to the ignition switch, etc. you're losing voltage when cranking, but not when the ignition is on, so you might have zero resistance across connections but still be...
