    Stumped. No spark.

cant say this enough in this thread…Use the troubleshooting guide it is a functional test of the complete TB system https://forums.iboats.com/threads/how-mercruiser-thunderbolt-ignition-systems-work.676476/ the chart in there will guide you through identifying what isnt working

    Stumped. No spark.

Merc puts them on with loctite its just pushed on, so most of the time you have to destroy it to get it off… i used a chisel the last time.

Motor guits 2000 Searay, 350 merc

Restriction up stream either clogged screen (some are inside pick up tube), leak in connections so you are sucking in air, anti siphon valve is clogged, collapsed fuel line, maybe a clogged fuel tank vent line but would think that would not happen while idling

I think if you click the report button on your post you can ask the mod when it asks for a reason why...

275 Verado not going into gear Broken drive shaft?

You may want to have mods move this to Merc OB section - but yes your thought about the water pump is not turning thus drive shaft is broken is probably correct. As for why you probably have to drop the lower and look at driveshaft to see

port side exhaust elbow over heating.

I used universal fit heater hose for my thermostat to riser hoses vs preformed ones, so no issue as long as you can make it fit and get the right diameter

    Upper shift shaft washer

Is the one on the left metal ? It is a plastic washer. You can easily figure this out by assembling it. There is very little room between lever and bellhousing because the pin sits on the shaft in a fixed location. when it is all together if the washer is too thick it will bind up and the shaft...

If you haven't go through the troubleshooting guide in stickies to verify it is the sensor. To replace remove cap and rotor to access the sensor

Making sure I purchased the correct coil for a 1996 5.7L

Read your plugs to make sure it is not running lean

    Need advice from experienced people.

What kenny said - just looking for why the piston broke and what condition the bore is in. He mentions lock n stich and other types of cast iron repair which is the right way to do it, just likely exceeds cost of used head. Was this a salt water boat ?

    Plugs fouling

verify the bowl isnt overflowing fuel down bores at idle due to high fuel pressure or bad needle seat and float. make sure choke is fully opening, try tweaking idle mix screws ay have been on a 454 but not sure what was done to it In terms of jetting power valve etc. likely was on a car with...

Need prop help with new boat

Assume he means the plastic prop hub, but that either works or it doesnt, prop would slip and rpms would be too high not low if it was an issue

Need prop help with new boat

If it should have a 17 the 19 will make holeshot worse. Assuming engine is in good shale and maintained you want to go lower in pitch than what u have on their now. What was the wot rpm with current prop? And whats the pitch

seriously need some experts help on this one, no water exits manifolds

so it doesnt run at 100-120 degrees and still constantly supplies water to elbows

Lean mixture clogged carb passages Or incorrect ignition timing. Detonation will literally beat the pistons to death. That may be the pitting you see. Take the piston out see what skirt looks like What did the plugs look like ? Mat have over heated also

    Plugs fouling

Its running rich, was this just idling ? first verify choke is opening properly, suspect it is closed too long. did you adjust the idle mixture? Double pumpers may have idle mixture adjustment on all four bores. jetting is also probably needed but im assuming you weren’t running it fast...

I suspect you had detonation which destroyed the piston. head is not weldable. Cheapest option find a junk boat sitting in someones yard with a 2.5 or 3.0 and swap it over Vs half azz rebuild.

Water in the drive shaft bellow

Why don't you post some pictures of what you have so we can take a look. Inspect the bellows closely when they are on the boat they are tough to see the cracks. If your u joint is rusty you are likely getting water in there and into the boat that way.

Need prop help with new boat

Agreed what prop is on it now and what is WOT rpm if indicating 3 k assume that is a bad tach. Also verify it is in good running order If you go to sea ray website there is a prop chart under owners resources. Should tell you what it came from factory (not that that is optimized) as comparison...

    4.3 Carb v 4.3MPI

Equivalent year carb vs MPI is not 100% equal comparison. Once they came out with MPI they no longer made 4 bbl version of carbed motors. So comparing a utilitarian Mercarb or TKS 2 bbl version of an engine with MPI of the same engine which has a higher hp rating is not a fair rating of carb vs...
