1986 hydra sport 22' walk around

Why do you think you have bad fuel? A good quality 10 micron separating filter will trap any particles coming out of the fuel tank. Carb issues can usually be traced back to degraded fuel lines. What micron separator are you running? How old are your fuel lines? If you have water on the...

    windlass

Windlass is not designed to nor should you “pull the boat towards the anchor” with a windlass. Always use your engine to power up to the anchor and break it loose. If the anchor is firmly set, tie off the rode and work it out under power.

    Saltwater eating my trailers...

To have a chance, you have to coat every square inch, inside and out with a protective and or sacrificial coating. To make matters worst, the coating needs to be rather heavy and uniform. The slightest bare spot or chip in the protective coating will immediately start rusting. Unless you can...

    Corrosion on drive

Dissimilar metals corrosion is the by-product of difference in the electrical potential between two surfaces. Something as simple as a loose or missing grounding wire can set the process in motion. Simple test...set voltmeter to ohms... measure resistance between the ground bolt on the motor...

    Replace Teleflex or go hydrolic?

If you don’t need hydraulics for autopilot I would save a ton of money, and problems going forward, and just replace the cable. A friend has a second station on a 23’, 9-6” beam on a bracketed outboard powered boat. Hardly ever uses it and it takes up valuable cockpit space while fishing...

1989 Johnson VRO - Solid Alarm - Overload?

Yes Still not sure... did you or did you not have the over voltage condition prior to you making your wiring modification? Your "about 4-5min until voltage climbed to 16V" is interesting. Perfectly normal behavior for an unregulated system. Current drops as battery is replenished at which...
