They are normal and you can go ahead and block them. All is well.

Mercruiser 4.3 added 4qts Still below ADD mark

I’ve had 3 4.3 GM’s. All of them took just about or just under 5l of oil, including the filter. Not sure these days to be fair. But made me question the idea of my larger v8 gm mpi only requiring just over 4l of oil. Weird I think.

    Mercrusier 5.0 MPI (2008) RPM stops @ 3200.

I your right TP...but at this time of year just after winter...any rough running issues of any kind on an mpi with this cap...without doubt, first port of call should be the cap. 100%. Hopefully more guys pick up on this. I’ve seen guys throw countless parts at these when that’s all it was. So...

    Mercrusier 5.0 MPI (2008) RPM stops @ 3200.

Diz cap...again. Honestly...there should be a big sign on this forum saying...if you have a mpi...change the Diz cap before anything else. If it’s not that this time...it bloody will be next time. who was it that said the Diz cap is never an issue ? ☺️ I know who it was !

    Slack in DPS-A steering?

Thought it would be there. Quite common.

What is the effect of decreasing Prop diameter?

Some did for sure. But the idea of stainless props not giving way and damaging a gearbox is an old wives tale from when they were hard splined. In most cases, for sure. It amazes me why this continues to be passed around. Hear it all the time. It’s just not a thing the way it used to be. An...

    Bow plowing at high speed.

Hi. Likely someone has mentioned before me...but it’s very obvious from the picture of the hull, that you have hooks in the rear of the hull. Very typical of some boats like this. What you described is exactly what a hooked hull does. Typically they hit a wall of performance at around 3/4...

What is the effect of decreasing Prop diameter?

To be honest...I really believe this is an often voiced opinion, that throws back to the 80’s when stainless props were hard splined to the shaft. It’s not really true these days.

    Slack in DPS-A steering?

You might find the slack won’t be there, when the engine is running and hydraulics are in play. If it is...there is slack that can be taken up at the steering mechanism at the inner transom

    Mercrusier 5.0 MPI (2008) RPM stops @ 3200.

Hi. I’m not even going to say what I always say about what causes this, haha. I’ll get a ripping for it. So I’ll leave the obvious Diz cap answer aside (oh oh...I just did...) So is it always just getting to 3200 exactly and not going further ? Or is it irregular? is it popping when it gets to...

Merc's External 2 Stroke Oil Tank.-

Searider. Honestly now...I can assure you that the engine can and will..throw its internals, out the side of the block, between the alarm and you filling it up. Never mind lose compression. These things are famous for it. Sometimes you don’t even get an alarm at all. Hope all is well and not as...

Mercury 150HP Black Max .... Power Trim Problem ... STUCK

Hi. Open the vent screw on the starboard side of the trim assembly. There is an access through way for a screw driver, via a hole in the side of the mounting assembly. Open this a few turns, but not all the way...she will soon drop down. Be mindful of her momentum once she does start to drop...

    Mariner year question?

What is the effect of decreasing Prop diameter?

Always a tough one to call. Old school rules on props usually say that going pitch to pitch like for like from ally to stainless will always drop your rpm a fair bit and gain some speed top end. this can be true...but on the odd occasion, you can find that the stainless prop (especially if it’s...
