    Mercruiser 3.0 No Spark issues

Agreed sounds like a healthy 3.0, which are not the quietest engines, a little clacky in my experience. Keep an eye on the plugs assuming the float level is correct -if needed you can fatten it up by upping the jets. Mikes carb parts sells them.

Mercruiser Alpha One Gen II Maintenance Items

That seems like a good list. Only comments I would add are on the water pump impeller- consensus is use OEM parts vs aftermarket for best life. Also inspect the seal carrier just below the water pump baseplate this is plastic and horn shaped. The top can get misshapen and deformed from the...

Bravo 3 Oil Leak - Oh No !!!

I found the same thing last spring on my alpha gen 2 after R&R drive during winterization the previous fall. I think there is some that spills out when you are reinstalling the drive. I had no issues or water intrusion last summer

    Bravo 2 water pump impeller

In addition to other comments main difference between bravo and alpha drives is the shifting mechanism. alpha uses a dog clutch which produces a clunk when it shifts into gear. Bravo uses a cone clutch which will provide smoother operation. also bravo drives are heavier and can take more strain...

Mercruiser MR-1 leg goes down, nothing on up

Electrical components work … until they don’t. You need to trace out where you have 12v and where you don’t I suspect you may have had loose or corroded connections or wires, and probably had a voltage loss. Eventually gets to a big enough voltage loss that solenoid won’t work or switch just...

Can the base of engine work? Two to bolts under engine are rusted and can

Yes you can do it but you need to check also the stringers and transom while the engines out if your engine mount is rotted probably due to the age of the boat there is rot else where If you look in the restoration forum on here you will see people doing these repairs

    Monster vs Aerial

I have not installed either brand I did a Krypt Xmobe https://www.bulletlines.com/X-mobe-wakeboard-tower-p/249.htm I am 95% sure this is the same as the Aerial Airborne 2.0 except for the logo. They must be made at the same place, but check out the price diff... I was really happy with the...

Blowby through vent tube? Mercruiser 3.7

It may be a moot point since they are honoring their work... My thought is ring end gap or mismatch between ring/piston and bore What did the rings and pistons look like from those cylinders?

want to run my engine out of the boat.

These look like the splices that would go in when someone installs a delco voyager EST (electronic ignition) on an older points or to replace a Merc DDIS distributor less set up that is obsolete. Doesn't necessarily make it bad or wrong as long as it is done right

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

no i think there is a cavity in front of the driveshaft in the coupler. Will not end up in bellows. I usually give mine 3-4 pumps in the fall was still greased when i removed the drive

    4 to a 2 barrel carb

As outlined you should be able to get and adapter and adapt the rochester or mercarb two bbl to the manifold, but might require rejetting the carb. How bad di the PO screw up the carb? If you have a good core I would recommend having it properly rebuilt either locally or someplace like this...

    Water in oil

Probably more a matter of what cylinders exhaust valve was open when you stopped it. I do believe the water in the cylinder will slowly leak past the rings into the oil. If you test the cooling system with air pressure and it holds you know the leak is from the manifolds To elbow joint...

    Water in oil

Yes water is likely leaking back into cylinders. Would pressure test the cooling system

Ran outdrive without lube! Bad sound.

If you are getting it rebuilt for the cost of an SEI upper he is being very fair on price.

    Truck cam with captain's choice?

Not sure what the original engine was in terms of initial and total timing. I think merc vortec 5.7s will have 10 deg initial and total of 30-32 ish by 2800 or 3 k rpm.

To fuel filter or not. 3.0

Agreed . I have never seen a 3.0 with separate canister fuel filter from the factory. My folks had a 91 seray with a 3.0 that was passed down to me. I changed the filter that was a sintered stone for the first time when the boat like 18-20 years old … spring in bottom of housing Was rusted out …
