1995 Searay 5.7 GM winterizing mods..

Unfortunately the idea i have is to lull the engine and retap or heilcoil correctly. Can you start the tap in there? If not likely plug or nipple is busted off in there.… dont think they make expansion plugs that small

Blowby through vent tube? Mercruiser 3.7

X 2 on this and in post 1 OP states he used break in oil and followed a reasonably proper break in regime.

Blowby through vent tube? Mercruiser 3.7

Not enough oil comes out the vent and into the carb. take plugs withyou to the machine shop, they are going to say it was lean , but your plugs are not lean at all… in fact oil and rich… the plugs look like the ones out of my 65 gto. I did a backyard hone re ring, bearing, new cam, valve job…...

    Boat wont turn over…Safety Switch?

Yep, if you hear the starter engage and click then look at engine/gimbal/ujoints/drive being locked up, but thats not whats happening here

want to run my engine out of the boat.

Could have been the key switch or neutral safety switch. What Bondo recommends is a very good start clean and tighten all connections. Under the dash often times 12v supply to the switch and 12v back to ignition on are often daisy chained through the gauges- lots of potential for loose...

New Engine Replacement - Engine Died and Hydro locked after 5 hrs!?

I understand pulling the kill switch at rpm will create hydrolock potential… both are killing the ignition…and i think engine can spin backwards when it sputters .

A couple of quick Edelbrock ?'s

Have you verified your fuel pressure ? If you intermittently have issues with flooding from fuel bowl would rule that out. In the 6 years I've had my 1409 on my boat and a similar auto version on an old car never had a issue with the floats

want to run my engine out of the boat.

Someone might have used this universal harness like this cant tell from your picture https://www.hardin-marine.com/p-79746-universal-engine-harness.aspx So it may have already been rewired...

want to run my engine out of the boat.

Yes it would have had a cannon plug from new. Dont think your engine is a 1977, it would have been labeled a 140 unless they swapped the '85 valve cover ... so who knows what is there. I think you can buy both sides of the cannon plug with pigtails...

Ford 302 rad cap temp gauge

These all look fine, not unusual to have diff between the two manifold sides. Elbows get raw water regardless of thermostat being open or closed o they should be cooler.

want to run my engine out of the boat.

It looks like someone replaced your cannon plug with a simple terminal strip. So find the wires the color on the engine side of the terminal strip. If the entire harness is homemade you will have to trace them out.

    5.7L Non-Vortec to Vortec conversion

So you bought a rebuilt short block and put heads on it? Vortec heads will certainly be better performnace but before you tear it down did you rule out improper valve adjustment as the cause of low compression? you only need roller lifters if you use a roller cam. is the cam you got a marine cam?

A couple of quick Edelbrock ?'s

Not sure if just the gravity weight of floats would hold the needle and seat closed as much as the buoyancy of the float pushed up by gas. as far as accelerator pump I think there is an inlet ball and discharge check ball so they may rattle when inverted. When the carb is apart you can spray...

    03 4.3 carb and manifolds

if your choke is properly adjusted and set before starting you will have no issue with cold starts Unless the fuel bowl dries out if boat is unused for several weeks. the thunderbolt 5 ignition on your boat has a rev limiter built in just above 5 k. You may not be able to hit it with current...

Is Volvo Penta 3L a good engine?

Agreed seen these types of comments at one point merc reduced their initial timing on some, but overall the 3.0 is a reliable powerplant. Mine served me well for 20 years towing skiers and tubes.... really amazed me how well it lasted given how hard we used it. Many a day my kids, their friends...

    Saltwater Anodes

Anodes are supposed to be replaced when half consumed, so grinding them down will only speed that process. As others stated , the pitting and erosion means they are working they don't need to be smooth to work. Are you using the correct anodes for salt water? I believe zinc is still considered...
