    battery chargers

Pretty typical......most electronics are built using surface mount technology. Surface mount cost less to produce, but it's also not repairable. To repair you replace.

    Boat trim

Where did you see they will not work below the water line? Know several guys that use them with great success I guess the real question is how far below the water line are you? Pretty typical for the water line to be center of the scupper at rest. I get no water in my cockpit even with 2...

    Shift Interrupter Switch DIY Repair...

There is nothing special about the switch. It’s a common snap switch. No problem finding something that would work if not the exact switch Digikey or Mouser could get them for you if they don’t have them in stock.

Last week… two in fact Here is a picture of one very similar to the first. BTW.. I had no problem determining is heading. Picked him up on radar 12 miles down range. ;)

    OMC Bad Gas

The 15/3/2017 fuel lines are OK, but you might want to convince him to change out the 1989 (32 yro) fill hose while he's in there

Additional sound signals for electric boats?

I boat in one of the busiest waterways in the US. Lots of recreational, commercial and military traffic of all shapes and sizes. Can't remember the last time anyone used a horn or visual signal device to identify or convey intent. Advancements in technology like AIS make it far too easy, and...

    Weird Battery Switch Wiring

Can’t assume terminals aligned or named in accordance with the nomenclature on the front of the switch. Terminal ID is embossed in the plastic by the terminal The installation manual shows the terminals labeled as Feed, B1 and B2. Looking closely at the photo, there looks to be B/2 embossed in...

    OMC Bad Gas

You may get lucky, but I doubt you’ll get enough head pressure to siphon through a filter. All you need is a small, 12 volt universal fuel pump. Amazon has a number of them under $15

    OMC Bad Gas

Remove sender from fuel tank and siphon the bad stuff off the bottom of the tank. The other option is to have the fuel polished or make a polisher of your own using a small pump and water separating filter

    Boat trim

I can see adding weight to the front helping to keep the bow down to help keep level on plane, but it’s not going to raise the transom. The increasing displacement only pushed the boat deeper in the water

    Weird Battery Switch Wiring

There is no “both” terminal per say. The switch has a connection for each battery terminal and a connection for the starter/accessories. Perhaps the starter connection is labeled both https://www.perko.com/images/catalog/pdf/Fig%208511-8512%20Inst.pdf

    Too windy?

As people have already said, winds affect bodies of water differently. I primarily boat on the Chesapeake Bay. The Bay is a relatively shallow north/south oriented body of water 200 miles in length. Long term weather events have a much larger impact than localized wind speeds. Most right...

    Inaccurate fuel gauge?

Using analog sensor. I have two tanks (Main and Aux) on one gauge. Flip a switch to select which tank to read and I wanted to keep that functionality. The GFS10 gave me the option to tie the main tank analog sensor into NMEA network which I did.

Mercury Pro XS to MercMonitor Level 1 to Lowrance?

All fine and dandy but not very practical given the ignition must be on if you decide to utilize a network device in the future.

Audio Warning system disable with Key on engine off for Radio?

I’ve owned boats built in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Two where wired to the key switch because there where no empty positions in the accessories panels. The third had two empty positions in the accessory panel which I used to power the stereo/CD and fish finder finder. Ended up running a...
