    Mercury 2-Stroke Oils

You should check your owners manual, but if memory serves, Optimax can use regular TCW-3 oil, in addition to DFI oil. Oil should never separate or get clumps. Dump that stuff.

    Fuel Tank incorrectly labelled?

Gee, the tank is likely labeled right, IMO. A lot of things come into the amount of fuel that can be drawn out of a fuel tank. Most replacement fuel gauges are universal. They can be real inaccurate in judging fuel level. Fuel pickups can be the wrong length. Too long and they suck water...

82 50 hp tilt and trim

Well, the trim limit switch was on the starboard trim bracket of my '77 Merc PTT. The two PTT Trim Limit switch wires went to the main wiring harness, in the boat.

    No black/yellow kill wire on 9.9. 4-stroke

Kill switches are not usually wired to solenoids. I would trace youe spark plug wires back to the coils, and then trace the coil wires back to the source of the spark. The kill switch will be wired to the coils or the source of the power to the coils, maybe even under the flywheel.

1998 Johnson J115ELECM idle adjustment help!

Your timing specs are correct. I believe Quickstart advances the idle timing. If you disconnect the 2 wire sensor on the cylinder head, Quickstart should be disabled.

    Gas guage

Depending on fuel gauges to be accurate is tough. My speedboat has been thru 4 or so fuel tank gauges and the equiv fuel gauges changed over the last 45 years. It has a 8" tall tank. So, when the gauge reads empty, there is still 6 gallons left. !/4 tank is 9 gal, full tank is 18 gal. Each...

    Prop change on my bowrider

Solas is a good prop IMO. I think Turning Point Hustlers are better. I think the TP Hustler has more rake, which helps a high speed boat, but is also useful with a std powerplant, like you have. Just an opinion

1998 Johnson J115ELECM idle adjustment help!

My Johnnyrude Service manual covers your motor. The initial idle mixture setting is spec'd at 5-3/4 turns open. Make sure the motor warms up and the QuickStart system disconnects as that will increase idle RPM to 1200 or so.

    LOWER END OIL CHANGE

To each his own. I for one, do not want the gearcase plugs leaking or unscrewing, while I am cruising along.

    Gas guage

A lot of fuel gauges stop moving when power is removed. When they are powered they move to the correct fuel position. If the fuel tank is empty, they will move to zero when power is applied. So, if you turn the ign key off, and she has 1/2 tank fuel, and you drain it, the gauge will not move...

    Scary

I have heard the ports are empty as well. They were overcrowded a month ago. I suspect the ports were crowded with ships loaded with goods to be delivered pre tariffs. Now, I will speculate that the manufacturers of imported goods are waiting to see what tariffs and when tariffs will begin...
