1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

Run the engine with the positive wire from the rectifier disconnected (leading to the battery) check if the voltage creeps up to around 16 to 19+ volt at the positive terminal from the rectifier. IF it does? its just a rectifier

    I bought a 175 Doral Spirit

I'm new to owning a '86 175 Spirit and was wondering what are things to look out for as far repairs needed. It has a build-in fuel tank but not being used be the P.O. the motor was running on a removable plastic tank. what would be the best way to clean out for use?

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

In my opinion.....the most important thing to have is a voltage-regulator. Either built-in with the rectifier Or hooked to the stator. You want to keep the voltage at bay (14.5 max) to protect your electronics. "So my question is can the stator for the 120 charge 2 batteries, is it strong...

1990 Force 120HP #2 Cyl zero compression and upon opening piston shows damage

In addition to this; Dash gauges are not the most accurate, for proper reading a reputable voltmeter should be used

Hmmmm, output of the stator(s) maybe and/or condition(s) of batteries (may) vary

    Chrysler Break in Procedure

I would do these steps on the same day; (1) -20 minutes at high idle RPM (750 - 850) unloaded or out of gear. (2) -1500 RPM loaded in gear and vary the speed from idle until you have two hours on the engine. I'm not a fan of running things on muffs & test 2 needs to be in water /test tank

85hp Force lower unit disassembly? Stuck driveshaft...

Mine was a tool I originally made for removal of the hub/pulley for replacing on a Subaru main-crank pulley. I welded multiple bolts on a steel washer (donut size) and a pipe for leverage After I converted it to fit the spanner-nut.

85hp Force lower unit disassembly? Stuck driveshaft...

I would just try with WD40/heat/patience first, I have seen lots far worse than that & got them out. Helpful tip; when tapping the ring, alternate/switch positions so you don't stress one tooth only. after removal clean the treads with a wire-wheel thoroughly! Make sure the locking-tap is bent...

85hp Force lower unit disassembly? Stuck driveshaft...

Likely swapped out they both (2 piece shaft) I'm more worried about the internal-guts judging by the upper shaft-bearing :(

85hp Force lower unit disassembly? Stuck driveshaft...

Yeah...that is the Merc "updated" LU That tool is called a spanner tool (I made my own a view years ago) that tool may not be necessary if you pre-soak with WD40 heat & patience unless its a saltwater, then you'll have to; just break it away. but I don't see any corrosion built up. good luck on...
