Is this a L drive or not?

The same goes for the Jet-boats that had the 90 HP & 120 Force engines, the splines on the crank-shafts are different.

Is this a L drive or not?

It may in some cases however in this case I doubt it, judging by the bottom-shell looks the same as the outboard except the cut-out for the out-drive

Is this a L drive or not?

Thanks, my thoughts also (except the 115 HP want to use the spare 90 HP i have)

Is this a L drive or not?

It's a '92 I know the floors in them & I own a '90 bayliner Capri O/B and is waterlogged to a point the the mushrooms are coming through the carpet. (hence the shopping for a boat) I was thinking.......... if I can't get the motor going; to strip it from it's existing motor/outdrive & retrofit...

    Bad trigger? Can’t adjust timing

Hopefully It(s) still (may be) a solid band magnet

1996 Force Mercury 120hp starts then dies HELP

Thank you Nordin, but you & everyone else mentioned know waaaay more than me about these. I think that gica isn't sure what he has because; The 125 HP was only made up till 1989 and the last "version" still had the prestolite ignition. The 120 HP had the prestolite till '94 and forward the Merc...

    Bad trigger? Can’t adjust timing

It crossed my mind as well but then I thought.......no way?!?! interesting story; I had a '82 Merc. 50HP that the arm of the trigger-ring had cracked on, so it wouldn't move when/where it should . Needles to say; it took me until I removed the fly-wheel to discover that :(

    Bad trigger? Can’t adjust timing

IF I understand you correctly?? you mean; IF the ignition-switch is connected you have no spark when the switch is NOT connected you HAVE spark? Sounds to me you have the kill wire circuit shorting to ground somewhere from the switch to the terminal-strip in the engine

    Bad trigger? Can’t adjust timing

At this point....me too what is this magneto you keep referring to?

1996 Force Mercury 120hp starts then dies HELP

It is my understanding that the 120 & 125 HP are essentially the same, the different was the piston-seize & jets in the carbs. that made up for the extra 5 HP (same goes for the 85 & 90 HP)
  15. The Force power

    Bad trigger? Can’t adjust timing

In reality the motor/pistons will suffer IF rpms not monitored at WOT (in my opinion)

1996 Force Mercury 120hp starts then dies HELP

I think.....the problem is right here
  17. The Force power

    Bad trigger? Can’t adjust timing

You're getting the wrong advice! static timing should be at 28 !! when the engine is running WOT 5000+ RPMS the timing will be at 32 (or so) TO KILL the engine; attach a jumper wire to the White or black/yellow wire at the terminal-block, the other end of the wire touch to ground FIRMLY (this...
