    Fuel starvation conundrum

Lead the Mechanical Design group for a numbers of years. Knew the Parker and Aeroquip catalogs like the back of my hand. Got called into a meeting last week to give my opinion on a hose failure. Couldn’t believe the difference in supposed “OE” quality hose between now and back in the day...

I wouldn't say many……the cheap grey, “outboard” hose sold at the big box stores was junk…lol

    Fuel starvation conundrum

E10 rated hoses have been OE in the auto industry since 1989. The OE fuel hoses is my 1997 boat where E10 rated. Don't know about others. Complete hose refit in 2012. Fill hose was permeating at bend The drying out and permanent deformation of the hose at the bib is normal. Even if the hose...

    Bad Gas

Mixing E0 and E10 is just asking for problems. Moisture condensates and collects in the E0 tanks as well. Any residue water in the bottom of the tank from E0 would almost immediately separate when adding E10 into the mix.

    Fuel starvation conundrum

Just a thought…how old are your fuel lines? Could be a partially collapsed or detached piece of liner. Have you blown out the fuel lines with compressed air from carb end? Have you installed a piece of clear fuel line to check for a vacuum leak? Had a similar issue a few years back. Same...

    garmin gpsmap 2010c

I use a GPSMAP 2008 as backup. Bought mine new, but those units were discontinued and went unsupported @ 20 years ago. Requires an external, serial gps antenna or a NMEA 2000 network antenna to function. The power cable can be purchased from any Garmin dealer. Having said that, it’s been a...

View of unloaded trailer with pickups

Interesting…would would think they all work similarly. Ford has the dotted line but also has left and right track and zoom (ball) along with audible notification. Once close, hit zoom (on ball) and continue to back until beep, beep, beep becomes a solid tone when hitch is aligned with the ball.

View of unloaded trailer with pickups

Drive Tahoes and Burb’s for 20 years which forced the use side mirrors. Then had C5-7 fused 5 years ago. Turning around isn’t an option even now that we have the F150. They will pry hitch and backup assist from my cold dead hands….lol

    Spinning reels

They were popular until the mid- 50’s or so when fiberglas rods showed up on the scene. Did a restoration of a wooden (bamboo?) trolling rod from the 40’s for a guy. Leather inserts in a wooden grip. Used aluminum foil under the wraps as accents.

    Impeller replacement glycerin and grease

Dow 111 is good stuff. Used it in the shop back in the day. Have since switched over to one of the many silicon greases market for use on swimming pools. Very similar in texture and stickiness to Dow 111 but at a quarter of the cost.

Have a live mouse inside a interior wall. No insulation.

How did he get in there that he can’t get out? Bacon grease or peanut butter on a trap should solve the problem

Gas Pressure washer "turn off" instructions incorrect??

Closet E0 fuel is 2 hours away. I use stabilizer in my fuels all year long At the end of the season, I simply turn off the motor, blow out the pump housing with compressed air and roll it in the garage for the winter.

    Spinning reels

I build and repair rods and reels as a side job for the past 12 years. Build and repair 75-100 rods a year. Have restored a number of rods from the 40’s and 50’s. Even the old wire guides were hard chrome plated stainless. Can’t count the number of guides I’ve replaced on ugly sticks over the...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Went from a 2001 Chevy 5.3 to the Ecoboost back in 2018. Day and night pulling the boat, and everything else for that matter. No more 3K+ rpm simply pulling an over pass. Run @ 2K rpm 75 mph with the boat. Pulls the 3/4 mile long hill through our development at idle. Gets 22 mpg on the...
