How do I get that last inch?

I agree but it seems like all safety chains/cables come attached to the winch post.

    Water pump leak?

The motor was probably hydro locked on #4. Water does not compress so the starter could not crank it. You would be looking at serious damage if it had. It’s best to do a compression test with all plugs removed. The starter spins the motor better that way.

How do I get that last inch?

That’s a good catch on the strap angle. It does appear routed differently than the picture in the first post. Since it hasn’t been an issue until now, I don’t know I would make any adjustments. The original post says he was in a hurry. He didn’t say if it was the ramp he normally uses or not...

    Water pump leak?

You should get water out the exhaust. Not sure about anywhere else because I always use a run tank. I hadn’t seen one as bad as in the video but that may be because it is trimmed up.

    Cloth seat covers?

For me, it’s the same reason my motorcycle, atv, tractor and lawnmower has vinyl seats. I want a dry place to sit. Our patio furniture has the zero-g mesh. Only my truck and living room furniture has cloth seats.

How do I get that last inch?

That is how I load most of the time but it only works if you have the motor to push to push the boat up the trailer. Not all can do it. The pontoon boat I owned pretty much had to be floated all the way to the stops and even the overpowered tritoons I load now will settle back from the bunks...

How do I get that last inch?

Very good illustration of what I was trying to describe about how boats settle onto trailers. Thank you.

How do I get that last inch?

I’m not saying it’s good like it is. The hazards of what can happen during a crash are serious. Just not much can happen to it now and the options to fix are limited. The easiest fix IF the trailer will support it is to move the stop against the boat then return it to it’s original position...

How do I get that last inch?

He’s already towed it home for the winter. What harm is there in leaving it now if it is properly supported by the bunks? Not to mention it can be secured by other methods as someone else already suggested.

How do I get that last inch?

The only time I ever attempted to fix a situation like that using the winch alone, I bent the winch post so that wouldn’t be my first choice. I often run into the same situation when loading on steeper ramps. Winch the boat up tight and as the stern settles onto the trailer the winch strap...

Thoughts on trim pump and cover for volvo.

I have replaced a couple of the pumps but can’t remember if they can be removed from the bracket without disconnecting. Tipping it out of the bracket would help with cleaning and make the leak easier to spot. A light dusting of baby power is a great way to spot a leak but the pump would have to...

Thoughts on trim pump and cover for volvo.

All of them I have seen, but that is only 4 of them. Three Cobalts with V-8s and a Monterey with a V-6. All had the SX-A.

    Trailer Load musings

Another issue along the same lines is the actual tires. I think a lot of people have no clue that tires have load and speed ratings so they just buy what will fit the rim instead of what they need.

Source for bearing buddies rubber plug

Felt more like an attack against proper bearing maintenance.

    Trailer Load musings

Incorrect. It don’t know how far it would have dropped because I put a block under it but the hitch came 8 or so inches off the ball.

    Rev limiter value

I over-revved a Volvo trying different props once. It went into a protect mode and I had to shut it off and restart before it would come out of it. I don’t recall the model. 6 cylinder EFI. The original prop made the boat really doggy. I don’t know how anyone managed to ski behind it. New prop...

    Trailer Load musings

I believe tongue weight is important but I don’t give it much thought. As mentioned, too light and you know it going down the road. Too heavy can also screw with the handling of the tow vehicle. I just try to balance the load a little nose heavy over the axle. Doesn’t matter if it is a...

Source for bearing buddies rubber plug

Oklahoma is a ways from salt water. Sometimes people just get lucky. Here are some pictures of bad bearings. https://www.thehulltruth.com/trucks-trailers/1227028-race-bearing-wear-when-replace.html

    Transom saver or no?

A boat shouldn’t move much if it’s on the trailer correctly. A properly loaded boat stiffens the trailer. That’s not to say there are not strong forces at work. If something breaks or straps are left off then the boat will move. Sometimes a lot. I was dragging a 20’ ski boat one day and...

Connect alternator outputs of two motors to battery bank

I think I would run them through a switch and select which alternator I wanted to be charging.
