Lewmar 700 pro series anchor winch

How do you cut the "anchor line" in case of an emergency or getting the anchor hung up on the bottom?

Staying warm on boat in the winter

No...testing needs to be done live. Take voltage reading with battery fully charged and motor running. Then flip on your load. If you don't get an immediate voltage drop, demand and supply are roughly balanced. If the voltage drops over time, you have an unbalanced load and the excess is...

    water pressure vs air pressure

I use a shop vac to clear (suck) the water out of the 1.5" lines running between the skimmers in the pool and the pool house. Actually works quite well considering the lines are 50-60 ft. long and 5 ft. below the ground level at their deepest point

Lewmar 700 pro series anchor winch

Pretty much the same here though I typically drift fish except when fishing an "edge". Been a while......guessing I have 20-25' of 1/4" chain with a #16 Danforth. The only advise I have is to make sure you have "free fall". Nothing worse than try to strategically position yourself with a...

Lewmar 700 pro series anchor winch

Pretty common machine for a boat that size that don't intend to use it as a storm anchor. The question becomes what are your expectation and needs? How much water do you anchor in? Any drift allowed? Any short rode situations?, i.e fishing in a crowd?

    water pressure vs air pressure

Blowing out lines is a function of flow not pressure. You would be better off installing a schrader valve in the line and forego pressuring the storage tank all together. Used this method to clear the water line running out to the barns for years before running new lines at the proper depth...

P58 Transducer with my Raymarine E-series MFD

Depends on the size of the existing unit and whether or not it still fits your needs. If you like the unit buy a new P58. If not, it's time to go shopping. Lots of sales going on right now. Close outs on the Garmin echomap series are some of the best deals around right now

Out to lunch Gear Oil Prices

Only if you use clear, very low viscosity oil. I let the lower unit sit for a day or two before checking to allow any water to settle to the bottom then crack the plug. If I get water I drain. If not, it lives to see a second season. Change second season on the 100 hour requirement

P58 Transducer with my Raymarine E-series MFD

The P58 is a "budget minded" transducer. Since better sonar performance isn't on your list, the P66 or P66-DST buys you nothing over the P58. In reality, the connector is your primary limitation on what you can use. Adaptor cables are few and far between until you get into the high end...

P58 Transducer with my Raymarine E-series MFD

Depends on your interpretation of "compatible". Are you trying to match performance characteristics or the mating connector?

    Penn or Cannon?

Made the Cannon to Penn comparison when I bought a pair for my boat a few years back Ended up with a pair of Cannon Mag 10. Fishing in saltwater, I liked the extendable boom and fewer metal components to corrode.

    High current on fuel pump

The high pressure fuel pump is typically controlled and powered through the ECU Have you pulled the connector on the fuel pump to make sure it's getting the proper voltage? A low voltage condition would increase current demand causing the alarm

    combining a tailfin/powertran with a power pro 3.

Guessing your running a PWM (pulse width modulated) control. Speed and torque are controlled by changing the magnitude and duration of the output pulse instead of manipulating the voltage and amperage of the output

    Fuel line upgrade

That's not bad. I spent almost that much on mine if you count the cost to buy the Oetiker clamps and tooling.

    combining a tailfin/powertran with a power pro 3.

Yes and no. Maintaining a constant speed under changing load conditions would be impossible just regulating the output "feed" (wattage) through resistive means. As such, voltage and current are regulated separately in the control loop to maintain the same output (wattage) based on the Max...

    High current on fuel pump

Voltage and current are inverse. Any reduction in voltage results in an increase in current and vice versa. Having said that, EFI motors are very voltage/ground sensitive given that the communications between the various sensors and ECU, and the control loop are voltage based. Chances are...
