WOT RPM too high. Where is the slip?

Didn't catch that you are correct. If RPMS are verified then you are down to prop damage or coupler

WOT RPM too high. Where is the slip?

A 2000 would have a replaceable hub prop - I dont think they tend to slip like the older pressed rubber hubs Would verify the prop is ok and hub not slipping, also run with hatch open to see if there are signs of coupler slipping.

Stupid mistake: Can it be fixed?

I would drain it out, take starter and alternator off open clean and dry them. They may work may not. If you have a local starter alternator repair place may be worth taking to them drain oil - you can likely suck the water off the bottom of the pan and change the oil /filter Once you get it...

You said returning to the slip - have you verified prop is not damaged and hull is clean and not waterlogged?

    4.3L Mercruiser Milkshake

I bought a handyman's special (sea Ray 200 sport) with a known cracked engine block so I never ran the boat with the 4.3. I did some calcs basically lb of boat/hp and realized that it would be the same as my old boat (17 ft /3.0 which was lacking) so I put back in the equivalent of the largest...

    4.3L Mercruiser Milkshake

Looks good. If they engines are similar vintage the coupler should swap over no issue. I did a 4.3=>5.0 swap was able to use most of the peripherals off the 4.3 with exception of exhaust, needed manifolds, riser elbows and down turn elbows to match up with wye pipe. You will need to go up in...

    Drive oil

As Lou Said that is Premium Gear Lube which is clear brownish yellow in color. The High Perf gear lube is bluish green, can't confuse the two. While it used to be spec'd for the older alpha one gen one (1990 and older) Premium lube is now labeled for outboards and jet pumps 75 hp and lower. I...

    1984 228 305 carb problem

Agree on the idle speed, but at 900 rpm the carb will still be on the idle and transition circuit. on a properly set up carb you wont see fuel coming of main venturi until 1800-2000 rpm give or take… you can see this if you look straight down the bores and slowly open the throttle. Fuel flow of...

    1984 228 305 carb problem

Mine is a 65, the tripower can only handle about 3.5 psi. i found when i replaced my fuel pump the new one put out way too much pressure. if you are weeping of the venturis at idle its either fuel pressure too high or float/ needle and seat. might be worth post on cliffs q jet forum what fuel...

Alpha one, noise from gimbal bearing area, new gimbal bearing, no water intrusion. Stumped!

I would pull the drive off reinspect that gimbal is fully seated and the gimbal housing is not worn such that gimbal bearing can move in housing. Run the engine by stuffing a hose in water port on bellhousing see if noise is still present If it’s not present you know it’s the drive would...

    1984 228 305 carb problem

You’ve checked most of the low hanging fruit I’m thinking your fuel pressure is a tad to high ? Is float water logged ? If you turn idle speed down thinking fuel pump being slower outs out less pressure ? Had the same thing in my gto this morning lowered the fuel pressure regulator half a turn...

Oil Pressure Switch Necessary with the Sniper EFI?

yes i would think that if you go off the blue wire (fuel pump 12 v supply in sniper wiring) that would meet the regulation If say the engine dies but key is left in run… the fuel pump should shut off. Thats what the oil pressure switch does. Would run that by holley. why would you want to...
