    It's not the same motor. The 2014 and later motors are Mercruiser only castings It's not SBC, it's Mercruisers own block, heads, flywheels, rods, etc So a good machine shop can't fix the existing motor. However, with a pile of parts in addition to an SBC bobtail, it can be made to work...

    Get a dwell meter (borrow from local auto parts store) and set dwell properly

    Attempting to suck water from a bucket will just toast your impeller. You need a bucket big enough to float the whole boat and get the water level higher than the impeller to get it to prime

    Anything over 150 with a good gauge is water or oil in the cylinders If the gauge is that far off that it's reading 180-200 when it should be reading 150, then your low cylinder is closer to ,80-90 psi

    There is no after market support for Yamaha sterndrives. There is minimal support from Yamaha. Best is OEM
