Might be something as simple as a small stick, rock, some grass or weeds in the mud. As its dragged along its pressed open just enough so when the rode starts to come up it slips off. No way of knowing without watching

Snap hook and anchor do not go together. Takes very little to press in on the snap and release the anchor. If you don't want to store the anchor where the rode is, then just use the screw pin shackle
For the most part, once gas starts going bad, adding fresh to it just makes more bad gas. All the additives IMO are sales gimmicks, other then things like Satbil which is used before it goes bad

Use some dawn and sprary more water in. Let it slosh around some and drain it back out. Might need to do it a few times. Rag on a stick might help get the hard to reach spots
Having it at the shop I'll assume they had it running on a hose at idle and it did ok?
Need at least 1/2 throttle and later would idle, I would lean toward the carb was flooding. Might have had a spec of crud in the needle seat and it sitting for some time, it dislodged and starts working ok...
Once the retainer (item 38) is removed both axles will come out. Will need to remove a retaining ring (item 32) and they will separate

Can be many things, most of these are fuel issue or low compression
Removal is easy enough for the small shaft, the larger one is a bear but can be done. A press is best to install the seals. I used the old small seal and placed on top of the new small seal then a hose clamp to keep them from separating doing install
That is the correct seal kit
The shaft has to come out and its not as hard to remove as the outer seal. Here is my link where I did it
