    start by grabbing your multi-meter. you have a bad connection somewhere you should have continuity to the battery ground on all of the black wires you should have power on all the purple wires when the key is on.

    Still cant overtorque. You would be snapping the bolts off if you tried. However you couldnt crack the valve covers

    your valve cover gaskets should be rubber and normally last decades. first, make sure the valve cover isnt bent and that the bolts are snugged up to the sleeves.
