    You tried to hone cylinders without taking motor apart ?--You re-used a head gasket ?-----First I have heard of anyone trying that.-----The motor needs to come apart for a proper rebuild.

    I think the compression should be around 140+ PSI.----So perhaps test with another gauge.

    I do not believe these motors left the factory with an overheat warning or shutdown system.----It would run till it destroyed itself.------A wise man would install a new factory impeller every 3 seasons !!--A " new to you motor " must have a new impeller installed.

    Water should come out of the tell tale within seconds of the motor starting !----No thermostat on those models.

    Check flywheel key.----If primer valve was open the motor would get too much fuel and would slow down.

    There might be a screen / strainer on the fuel pump.----I normally use factory / quality impellers.

    It is a 2 stroke engine.----You mix gas and oil at 50:1 in your fuel tank.----I suggest you read a manual for that fishing motor / talk to some fishing buddies before launching your boat.----Could save you a lot of beer tokens.

    That looks to be a 1969 model motor.--Picture of cowling will verify that.-----The 68 models had finer / smaller teeth on the flywheel.------And in the french speaking part of the land.---Take a good look at wires on the motor as they are often corroded , with insulation...

    The primer bulb is nothing but a manual pump.----It moves fuel.----And most able bodied folks can generate much more pressure by hand then the PRESSURE fuel pump on your motor.----Elegantly simple testing can be done.

    Market conditions changed.------Some folks now realize how good these 9.9 / 15 HP 2 stroke motors are.---- But the general public loves to spend money on the 4 stroke motors.----And spend plenty doing so.

    If operation does not improve when you operate the manual fuel pump then you do not have a fuel pressure issue.----More trouble shooting is required.----Sounds like motor is only running on 2 of 3 cylinders.

    What happens when you operate the manual fuel pump ?----Post your compression test numbers.----Does spark jump a gap of 3/8" or more on each lead ?

    That would be a 9.5 HP model ( 9322 ).---If spark jumps a gap of 1/4" or more it is good.----If not pull the flywheel.--Install new impeller.----Change gear oil.----If it was stored with an empty carburetor the fire it up.-----Visit ----leroysramblings-----For all the information you would need.

    I think it is fairly common to find boats for sale because there is an ISSUE.------Some of the pitches are.-----Just needs a tune up.-----Carburetors need cleaning.----It's winterized right now so can not test run. ----And the list goes on.----A rebuilt powerhead may be a good option.

    Very , very obvious to me what is wrong here.----O-ring at the top was left out and no grease on the splines.-----So now you need to remove power head to inspect the crankshaft spline.------Rust is very abrasive and similar damage was done in the crankshaft spline !-----Not to worry as used...
