    ^^^ bin there done that.----Unless you need to run lights , big boom box or 2 fish finders , electric downriggers the battery will start the motor for near 3 months.------A wee solar charger would be all you needed.

    Those jets are not just used on 1971 models.----If yours has 72D-----Then 71D and 70D are available.----Find a helpful shop.

    The VRO pump is very simple.----Go ahead take it apart for inspection.-----I would never buy a new $500 pump.----It must be newer pump and those fitting are sealed with an o-ring --Take one off to see how simple they are.

    An engine that uses a bit more fuel with no other expensive upkeep can be a better deal.----Drove a 1967 Caddilac at one time.----Used a lot of fuel but I could maintain / fix it myself.----Not so with the vehicles I drive today.

    With the float bowl installed what distance can the float drop ?----Why the concern over this setting ?----What is your motor doing / not doing ?-----There is a saying.------" most carburetor issues turn out to be something else " ----Many shops would second that idea.

    All outboards heads will be warped to a degree.----If not corrected you will not get the correct and even squeeze on the gasket.----A portion of the torque value would be " lost " to straighten the head.

    What motor ?----Never worried about float drop myself.-----Rarely have to adjust floats.

    You have to make sure that it idles at about 1200 RPM to provide the cooling I think.

    Fresh water motor or a salty.---I always re-use on fresh water motors.-----The tork is not very high ----Just clean them up.-----Clean / retap the threaded holes and re-install them.
