    It should start with 140 PSI in the cylinders.-----Be very careful with your inspection before you hand over any beer tokens.----If you get it for $500 or less it might be a good deal.-----At $5000 it would be a huge risk to buy a non runner !

    The flywheel key on these does not change timing as in the 1973 and newer motors.----Yes the rotor is notched.----Flywheel does have timing marks for you to check so key must not be sheared.-----That black rubber bumper is the stop for MAXIMUM timing advance.----That is the only timing you need...

    Merc's External 2 Stroke Oil Tank.-

    Some oil tanks get crankcase compression on them to help oil flow to the motor.----Tank on motor is kept near full.-----System has a bleed off feature so oil tank is not under pressure during storage.

    Poor man fix is to use glass plate and mechanics blue to determine if it is in fact warped.----If it is then a wee hammer might correct this flaw !!---These items are a matched set.----Machined as an assembly.-----There are lots of used blocks around.--E-bay is one place.------Your location ?

    They built these motors for quite a few years.-----Mercury normally does not keep building stuff that has major flaws for very long.
