    I tried using 3/16 for carburetor feeds.----Persistent leaks.----Bought 5/32 line along with factory tywraps meant for hose.

    These pump work with a PRESSURE pulse.---Perhaps refinish the pump housing.----Piece of glass and some 220 grit paper.---Might do the trick.

    Find the proper trailer.---As it is now it is disaster looking for a place to happen.

    Pull the shaft out !!---Need to inspect the bearing surface above the spline.----Post picture of area above the spline.-----Easy as it will slide right back in.

    No offense but how did you conclude that motor ----" sounded dry "-----I am puzzled.----You are aware that plugs laying on the block can show spark, but when in the cylinder with 100 PSI air the will not fire ??----Testing / inspection / trouble shooting must be done.

    Turn handle all the way to bump up against neutral stop.-----Remove cover and look for it.-------Ignore iffy marking on the throttle grip.

    84-86 75HP Mercury.

    Your motor runs on all 4 cylinders ALL THE TIME.-------It was the later 4 carburetor ( 2+2 ) models that did not supply enuff fuel to bottom 2 cylinders at idle.-----Sounds like you need to look at bottom carburetor again.--Does spark jump a gap on all leads 3/8" or more ?-----And stop running...

    Motor should fire right up then.----Trouble shooting required on your part.----Are you advancing throttle to the neutral stop or going by the " iffy " marking on the tiller handle ?

    The 69 model had gold coloured decals.----The 68 models did have a wee square plastic applique if I recall.

    Hard Start 15 hp

    Fairly common for folks to install the choke knob upside down.----So remove silencer cover.---Pull choke out and verify that choke is CLOSED and stays closed when you pull the starter cord.

    What boat ?----What drive is in there now ?-----Looks like the steering anchor for an OMC sterndrive with the external steering cable.

    Some will argue.-----I use 220 grit only.---Strip about 1/4" wide.----Work it gently to establish a cross hatch finish..-----No need for finer grit to have a mirror finish !!-----I do the same procedure on lower unit shafts.

    The cowling tells me it is a 1980 model.-----An excellent motor when it left the factory.----Condition is everything when a motor is 40 years old.

    Some would argue-------I use 220 grit polishing cloth strips.----Lightly polish that and put a crosshatch pattern on those journals and bore of the rods.----Been doing that for years.
