    Repairing small cracks in livewell

No, you can fix from the inside. Grind away the gel, down to fiberglass. Apply a layer of CSM, and a layer of 1708 Apply 2-3 coats of gel. The last coat with wax in the gel 40 grit DA discs work well to remove the gel

    Carb or worse?

No, a failed manifold gasket between the head and manifold would only leak exhaust and flame and would make popping noises when running Do a propper compression teat and leakdown test 135-150 psi is a good range 115-135 psi is a worn engine range 100-115 psi is a really worn engine needing a...

    Repairing small cracks in livewell

none, if the resin is fresh and you can do the whole repair at once (one layup and gel coat all at once). or you have to let it cure and then grind the surface back down a bit if you have to do a second layer or to add gel. however most of the time the bondo brand resin is at least 6 months to...

    3.7lx merccruiser starter issues.

clean all connections to bare metal, shine it up with 150 grit so its shiny and clean enough your mother-in-law will eat off them. then once they are tight, seal with marine electrical varnish. 3000 CCA means nothing if its crossing a bad connection.

    Couple of questions

its hardly ever a bad gasket if the leaking air is coming out the exhaust, you have rusty valves or valve seats. this would indicate a breach in the manifolds leading to water running in the cylinder and causing rusty valves if the leaking air is coming out the breathers, you have leaking...

    Couple of questions

do a compression test - all cylinders should be between 135 psi and 150 psi then do a leak down test (to determine where the compression is being lost) water in the oil could be leaking manifolds and water running down the cylinders which would also have low compression from rusty valves and...

pulling the drive (or at least pulling the transmission off the drive (see the stickies) is a once-a year maintenance issue. while you are inspecting the U-joints, you may want to also replace the bellows and check the PDS bearings
