    Step #1 is to take it all apart.-----You need to bore and fit 4 new O/S pistons.-------Do not overlook an inspection / reseal of the lower unit.----Be a shame if that blew up after rebuilding the powerhead.

    Some will argue all day long.----I say it is fixable if you want to learn about doing it yourself.----If you have to run to a shop at $100+ / hr you will be shocked by the cost to repair this.-----I do not have enuff fingers and toes to count how many times I have seen this very same damage !!

    A broken piston ring is the cause.----Remove bypass cover on side of the block and see the broken ring / damage!

    Lack of spark has nothing to do with it !!!----It is poor design of the TOP piston ring that is the problem.

    There must be shops around with used ones.----Must be lots on E-BAY too.----Most of the 60 degree V-4 model from 1993 and newer use that cowling I believe.-----90 HP and 115 HP are the same cowling.

    I have done 2 of them from the outside.---Just finished rebuilding a transom from the inside too as it was easy to get at.------Some boats are constructed in such a way that going in from the outside is the best easiest way.------You just glue the outside skin back in position for near perfect...

    ??----But there is a shift interlock !----It prevents you from winding this motor up in neutral.----Or maybe the nylon pin at the bottom of the towershaft is broken..----Or the motor is running on one cylinder.----Bring it over as this is easy to figure out.
