It only leaks on the port side. it's a Edelbrock style but is a weber rebuild: Carter AFB-4.3L-Marine-Electric Remanufactured 4 Barrel 4.3L Marine Carburetor from National Carb.
I'm going to add a regulator and test with fresh fuel before cracking it open or returning the carb.
Now i'm really confused!
I have an original mercruiser fuel pump. It's operating at 9-10 psi.
The aftermarket versions list 9-10 psi operating range - and are $55.
An original fuel pump is now $630.
How is it that my original is operating at the same as aftermarket specs? I cannot find there...
Fuel pressure gauge was on order and just arrived.
I connected it directly to the fuel pump output (in place of the fuel tube that connects to the carb, without a Tee.
It reads over 9 when operating, and a little over 1 when disconnected. I don't know if it should zero out or if it's...
Come to think of it, I may have had the same issue. This is where the problem started. I will check the fuel pressure tomorrow.
I just bought the carb, and don't want to break into it if it is not working - I'd rather return it. I did remove the inlet covers on top to expose the metering...
recently purchased and installed a Carter AFB-4.3L-Marine-Electric Remanufactured 4 Barrel 4.3L Marine Carburetor - Electric Choke. Same model, installed easy.
I have been diagnosing fuel supply and bypassed the oil pressure sensor to test the fuel pump.
This is what I'm seeing at the...
I have a 1991 stingray 190lx with a 2001 reman 4.3 4bbl alpha one gen 2
I replaced the batwings 10 years ago.
I also have a temp diff with starboard riser being hotter. It was explained to me as normal.
I checked all the plug gaps, and set the idle speed screw (just touching cam) and idle mixture screws (1 1/4 turn out).
I cannot check the idle timing if it's not running, however it was running previously and no adjustments were made.
It started right up on the first try, ran for 15...
Is there a procedure to manually flush salt water out of the engine without a running engine?
I really don't want salt water sitting in there until I can get it running!
I know I can pull the blue plugs to drain, but can I remove the hoses from the thermostat housing and force fresh water...
I have not confirmed sparks, but it did start and run. Would that be possible without good sparks?
Also, I had a storage water/bilge issue with lots of corrosion. I replaced carb, starter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil. Maybe fuel pump?
Replaced the starter. Engined fired up almost immediately, ran for about 20-30 seconds, then sputtered out. I had backed off the throttle after it started to about 1k rpm, but that was not at idle. I was unable to goose it back up.
I was also unable to restart it. I tried first without...
