    Spark plug part number?

thanks. I've verified all info that I have available to me. That SN was written on the invoice for the engine for the previous owner. It was written out twice, but I cannot find any info and the dealer has changed hands.

    spring vapor lock?

Thanks, Rick. that makes sense. I had to return her to the yard today or my neighbors get fussy. I will check this in a few days.

    spring vapor lock?

The oil pressure switch leads test open (no conductivity) with no power. I didn't test the sender. fyi, The motor/hissing sound (possibly fuel causing hydrolock) is intermittent. It only happened once after shut down. I cannot recreate to capture or identify, but my guess is that it was...

    spring vapor lock?

Is there any other small motor/hissing sound that I could be mistaking for a fuel pump? Would a bad oil pressure switch close the circuit, or leave it open? I will test to see if it's stuck closed?

    spring vapor lock?

Agreed. and I now think the gas IS causing a hydrolock. I described a small motor and hissing sound that ran after the engine stopped. I suspect this was the fuel pump, filling the cylinder again, and causing another hydrolock. After that, As I mentioned, the starter engaged, but didn't...

    spring vapor lock?

It didn’t geyser, But we’re mincing words. I don’t believe there was water in the cylinders. Only the exterior of the plugs had rust. No leak from manifold. I didn’t fog. My challenge is that I have to take it back to the yard while I order new gaskets for the manifolds and lower...

    spring vapor lock?

Yep - that was my gaff. Bow was up. Cover failed. plug was in. I had it garaged since 2013. new car took its spot, out outside it went. learning lessons, now.

And, I don’t know that it’s Hydrolocking. That was an early guess.

    spring vapor lock?

I see no rust inside. The mating surfaces are covered with the foil/lead gasket. They scrape off fine. There is no rust inside the ports.

    spring vapor lock?

The exhaust ports look rust free. The elbows have some buildup inside, but not messing with the mating surfaces.

    spring vapor lock?

Update: Engine fired up beautifully almost all day, after the initial rough start. One time, is felt "seized" again (the starter semi-engaged, but no cylinder movement). After a few attempts, it fired right up. * I now suspect this might be a starter issue. When I retrieved it from...

    spring vapor lock?

UPDATE: Couple hours later, she fired right up. no oil in water, no water in oil. If there was an active exhaust manifold leak, could it run normally? What would I expect to happen?

    spring vapor lock?

I think this is from the exterior exposure, but I’ll order gaskets and plan to r/r.

    spring vapor lock?

It runs. I don't think so. there is visible rust on the bolts and attachments, but I don't see any corrosion on onside. the starter sounded good and was able to crank it over.

    spring vapor lock?

damn - that would mean that tonight's concert is not gonna happen. I was admittedly hoping someone would say - if it's running, let it run. When I retrieved it from storage, the bilge was full of rainwater. the base of the engine has clear signs of have been sitting in water. If I start...

    spring vapor lock?

Excuse the wrong terminology. I cranked it without plugs. sounded great! (start and cylinders sound clean). I put the plugs back in - hard start, but it eventually turned over and ran, though rougher than usual. Sounded like it was trying to clear its lungs. there was some black coloring...

    spring vapor lock?

Two plugs were dripping with fuel. that was likely me flooding it last night. Once I pulled the plugs, I could turn the prop with some force, and I could hear fluid pumping out of cylinders (plus some added water to bilge). Seems like vapor lock to me. Not sure if I should reconnect battery...

    spring vapor lock?

SoCal boat, usually stored in garage, never winterized. Last year it was stored outside. took on water. still not "winterized", but never reached freezing conditions. On first start, it turned a few times, but wouldn't fire. First start of the season is usually a little rough. I let it...
