So this is my friend's boat I am just helping, and yesterday he did the compression check. Safe to say he did not ground the leads and there is no spark to all 4 plugs.
I found a video on Youtube that shows step by step testing to determine which component needs replacement. Let me know if you...
Ok compression 120 across the 4 cyls.
Took the fuel pump off and the diaphragms are good. The check valves have the clear rings one showed a kink. The other one is flat. I could not see anything else wrong. When I squeeze the priming ball I get has on tye left bottom hose. The engine starts...
So we were at the bait dock and turned the motor off, when ready to go it would not start, pumped the prime ball and it started, revved it and it died pretty quick prime ball soft again. Repeated process same result. Can it be the pump? Thanks guys
Ok so both engines were at 32 BTDC put them at 28.
Now the rebuilt engine I managed to get to 800 on muffs.
The other one I cannot get bellow 1000
And it oscilates like crazy above that.
Maybe there's an air leak. I mean it is old. I did change the head gasket already.
Ok so cranking timing on Prestolite has to be set at 28 BTDC which I think I did. I will doublecheck tomorrow. And the 28 mark is the right one out of the 3.
Wanted to ask I set the cranking timimg at 28BTDC. Mine is a 1990 Force 120. I am going based on the book. Some have 30 but I think mine is at 28. Just double checking
Mine is Prestolite
Ok after adjusting the cables by the manual I started both engines I get water through the top little bolt that I will use for tail tell.
The problem is if I adjusted the idle screw below 1500 RPM(on the dash reading could be more or less) they both die.
So again there has to be an adjustment...
I want to add a tail tell to these engines. I read that you can add a fitting to the thermostat housing. That would probably be mandatory at this point.
Yeah my beef was the alarm. And when measuring temp it went up to 200 so I have to be careful. But when both engines did the same thing it had to be a functional issue not a repair mistake.
Hello again so I cleaned and adjusted the floats on the carbs. The gas does not get sprayed out when I squeeze the prime bulb.
The engines start I got idle, still have to adjust it all, the gear selector and the gas selector because they kind of interlock.
I saw somewhere that the lower unit...
The black tip one is new.
And it is an off the market cheap kit with seat and needle. The seat on the carb is in there good. Maybe heat and a reverse screw or something to take it off.
The seat has no rubber on it. I took pics of the needless. One seems to be more grooved than the other and the silver one is off the market. Any thoughts on the off the market ones? I have a seat for it.
I did adjust the floats as you mentioned.
Waiting for the inner tube and caps that I removed.
I did that at some point. This engine had the beggining of a melted cylinder in number 2. So the carbs may have been running rich. The float was high not parallel on the top carb I have not opened the bottom yet. It doesn't showthe same things. The squeezeball looses its firmness so the high...
