I scuffed up the top of my stringers and the underside of the deck floor. I bedded the wood to the boat using milled fibers, cabosil and epoxy resin. I first dry fit the deck floor and checked for level port to starboard. Then checked for 1 inch pitch forward to aft. Sometime during the week I plan on roughing the surface up and adding 17oz to the edge. So I can shoot the cavities in the stringer with 2lb flotation foam. After that I will proceed to adding 2 layers of 17oz fiberglass for added strength.

As it gets cooler I find the outside condition better suited for me to be able to work on my boat. I should be able to move forward with my project and will keep you guys posted. Thanks.

Yes I will once I finish the deck. I will resin coat the outside with epoxy then use Total Boat fairing compound to fair the hull side before I prime the sides. Then I will work on the bottom.

Greetings once again. I got around to mixing the 2lb flotation foam and took measurements of where to drill with the hole saw to pour the foam. Those numbers were written on the deck plywood with a black marker. Those are the numbers you see when I bedded the deck. I kept the two forward center compartments and will use them for small storage for what its worth. I will have to build two small hatches.

Very interesting. I've been away from this forum several yrs and just saw your project. I believe Seabreeze boats were built in the suburbs of Orlando, Fl. and later yrs had a 18' lapstrake cuddy version. I'm about 40 miles away and we used to see them everywhere. That hull looks identical to the Cobia Sea Queen from the 1960s. They were built by Southern Plastics which was later changed to Cobia Boats. Construction and cabin of yours is different from my 65 but hulls appear to be the same. I guess Seabreeze picked up the design after Cobia stopped building it. Good luck.

Thanks. I m about 10 minutes away from the new Cobia boat facility that just opened up. It was all in house with Maverick but there wasn't enough room so they built a separate facility about 3 minutes away. It looks long and narrow with room to expand back though.

I was able to scuff up and prepare for the first top layer of 17oz. Here are the before after shots of that.

Today I will be wiping the amine blush off, scuffing up the surface and filling the edges with cabosil and epoxy resin before putting the last layer of 17oz on the deck. It should take about 4 or 5 hours. I will post the pictures when possible. Thanks.

I'm in the process of filling in the edges where the cabin sole meets the hull. When I'm close I will add 2 layers of 17oz on the hull side. As you can see I will have small little cubby holes for maybe life jackets or something small in the cabin sole. I will try to post more pictures maybe sometime this week.

I started today by dry fitting the 17oz on the hull side and I cut around where there was wood. I trimmed the excess off the sides before I started laminating. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to laminate both sides. I will determine if I will need to add another layer just by pushing on the hull once its cured. Most likely I will add another layer of 17oz. The hull sides were very flimsy just like the bottom of the hull. That's why I am reinforcing the hull side. I am very surprised this boat had been around this long seeing as though it was very thin laminate in my opinion.

I wiped the amine blush off. Then scuffed up the surface though I had already done a lot of the heavy sanding earlier. Before I dry fit the 17 oz.Here it is after I laminated one layer of 17 oz. Its very hard to see though. I will be definitely be adding more laminate on the keel as I plan on beaching the boat. I will also have a keel guard too.

I originally intended to use the original forward hatch but after rebuilding it I was not happy about the weight of it so I cut out the opening to be replaced by an 18"x18" bomar hatch a friend gave me I plan on sanding the acrylic later when I'm at that stage. But here are some pictures. I will keep the original hatch as a souvenir or to simply to build a lighter one if I don't like the bomar hatch. The bomar hatch has its advantages like being able to open from the inside or outside. Also letting light in. We ll see what transpires. Later.

Ok so today I put the 2nd layer on the hull side which took me about 4 hours to laminate. I dont have any finished pictures but only of the material and also I had put some Total Boat fairing compound on the floor which when mixed turns green. All I have left on the hull inside is, continue to fair the floor and put more fairing compound. Then get ready for paint. It will take time and I plan on working on my boat this weekend.

After I finish the inside I will jump to the outside and continue to epoxy coat the outside. Then use more Total Boat fairing compound to the hull sides. I will post more pictures this weekend.
