A bit more progress.....

I was able to replace the steering cable without having to remove the motor. Yay!

Also cut 3 hatches in the casting deck

Got the pedestals shortened on the main driving seats also.

Still plenty left to do though.

Huge update!

I put an ad on CL looking for a power trim unit for my 1977 75hp. Got a call about 30 mins ago from a guy that has a 1979 Stinger 75hp with CMC power trim. As long as I remove the motor from his boat....I can have both the motor and CMC power trim/tilt for $300 bucks!

He says the motor runs strong....but lower unit is busted. He just had motor tuned at end of last season. Seller is at his Florida home, so his son is going to give me a hand getting the motor. We're going to pick it up Easter morning.

I'm def pumped....been wanting power trim/tilt for awhile now. And now I'll have a spare motor also.

wow man, nice find!

That's why I'm always telling people to put "Wanted" ads on CL(put it in the boats section not the Wanted section).....it really works.

The seller didn't even have his motor for sale yet...but he saw my ad and called me. This method always assures that I get first crack at stuff before it even gets listed.

Got my last 2 boats, my bimini top, misc boat stuff...and now the CMC unit/Stinger.....utitlizing Wanted Ads.

Hey BA - that's a darn good price on the CMC even without the motor. They usually go for $350 and up. And you might get a nice chunk back if you decide to part the Stinger.

Nice find! That dude is a MORON. He could easily sell the CMC unit alone for $3-400 and the motor for another $3-400 or maybe more. I think the Stingers are desirable.

Yeah....I'm guessing that I could easily get $400 for the Stinger(even with the bad lower unit). Since the Stinger is the clone to my Evinrude, I'll probably hold onto it.

I'm guessing the seller doesn't want to deal with pulling the motor etc off his boat. He apparently bought a Force 90 to replace the Stinger. I'm also guessing that the Force must have power trim...seeing that he's going to sell me the CMC.

If my work schedule wasn't so hectic for the next few days...I would've already gone and picked the motor up. I'm def not one who likes to wait around (and end up losing a deal)

Drove out and got the Stinger this morning. Took me 90 mins to get the controls and motor off the darn boat. The seller's boat had a tangle of wiring I had to sort thru to get to the TNT and controls wiring. Ended up putting the motor on a plastic snow sled and slid the motor the 40yds to the car. It worked it very well.

Got the TNT installed on my boat pretty quickly. The pigtail that holds the 2 solenoids is a bit loose, so I'm probably going to have to buy a new pigtail.

Here's the motor that came with the TNT.

My iboats order arrived today. Going to have make another dash panel to accommodate the fuse panel....or mount it somewhere near the helm.

I also was able to sell the 4 ugly pedestal seats for $80. I paid $40 total for them last season, so I made a nice profit after using them for a season.

Going to look for seats tomorrow. So far, I like these

Wise Folding Fishing Chair - Gander Mountain

Going to take a trip to Bass Pro tomorrow to see what they have also.

I'll check them out tomorrow(assuming they stock that model). We tried a handful of seats at gander mtn the other day....and the more expensive ones weren't that comfy IMO. Not sure if we tried the model you suggested though. Are you just recommending I get a "high back" model in general....or does that model have a super comfy seat also?

Just a general recommendation and that one was an example of the high back style. I'd recommend mine but they were discontinued. iboats has a friggin' ton of 'em but of course you can't test them out.

Not being able to test them might be a deal breaker...but I'll peruse iboats to see what they have.

On a side note...I was considering macropoxy 646 for the boat floor. Call Sherwin Williams today and they said applying macropoxy over spar varnish won't work. :( I wish I had heard of the 646 last season...I would've used it instead of varnish.

Looks like I'm going to go with carpet.

Carpet install started. I won't glue it down til later this week. ( It's about 25 degrees outside right now).

Ok...now I'm leaning toward these seats
Deluxe High-Back Fishing Seat - Gander Mountain

Not sure what color would look best with my boat(and carpet). The gray seats make me wonder if they would blend in too much with the gray carpet. Red would really "pop" , but Im worried that color might be a bit "too much"...if you know what I mean. Normally I would be gravitating to blue, but these are an odd shade of blue.

Any/all opinions welcome....

i think they'd all look good since it's just the trim in color.

Def NOT helpful.

Gray is normally a "safe" color, but I'm not sure I want to spend $350 bucks on seats that'll blend in with the boat.
